I am in the middle of moving forward of my recovering and one thing for me is relocating closer to friends/family. Family for me is one that I made from friends who are important to me. I called a supportive friend from down home and telling her that I am moving down within the year. The move is finally coming true for me and I need to be important.

Well, the supportive friend called back on my house phone and happy to hear about my news and in the same process she mentioned to me that she and her family are moving to florida beginning of October. When I heard this my heart dropped and been crying ever since. My friend has been very supportive and I knew she was there even though we did not connect much.

I am not sure what esle to say except that I am very sad and abandoned

I do not think she abandoned you I think she has to do what her family needs...perhaps her husband got new job transfer or something else....I don't think she is abandoning you...she is still a friend but is not going to be where you are now moving....well that is a stickeler but it is ok...are there other people that are there that u connected with in past? if not why move to new place where nobody is? I think I would ask friend where they would be going in florida and heading my butt as close by as I could if it meant lots to me to stay connected....

but this is just my thoughts and my support is that I care your alone and you are not when here....we all care...hugs bill nice thing is the internet goes everywhere....hugs

I completely understand the feeling - but I too am curious if there are other supportive friends in the area where you are moving, or if it was mainly to be closer to her? She did not know when she planned her move, that you would be moving closer, so while I know it hurts I am sure it was not intentional. If there is no one else where you are moving, I would reconsider not moving or moving where there are more supportive people. I have a hard time with friends moving, it does feel like abandonment and often its hard to stay in touch. Hang in there and do the best you can! I also know the feeling of family being made up of friends important to you - it is the same here!

The move for my friend happened within the past couple of weeks and plan to move beginning of next month. I have other supportive people that I would have in the area that I consider family. Where I live now I am not happy I am just tolerating it just to get by, I have no friends-where I am moving to I will have friends that want to be around me and love me for me.

its ok to start from scratch, you can do it...
i moved to a new place 3 months ago and have now 2 good friends...you will be fine wherever you go if you have a little faith in yourself

things happen for a reason. It could be now that you will have to make an effort to make some new friends, and you could meet somebody important.
I know its a cliche, but when one door closes, another opens.
I really do believe that everything happens for a reason, and you've just got th keep your eyes open.
