I am absolutely going to f----ing snap. The baby's coming and his OCD is getting worse. And he sees no problem with it! HIS parents are getting their digs in about how we are always late and how were not ready for the baby and they don't ask! They don't ask why and they know he has it! They don't know anything about how he was almost late for his friend's funeral because he needed so much bathroom time. THat thanks to his mother being a total control freak he never learned how to clean up after himself and that he freely admits he is just lazy. He is so sweet and supportive and loving and my best friend and I will never leave him but what am I supposed to do when he won't have sex for weeks at a time because his OCD

Hello, Im new to this forum and Im so happy I found it. My wife has OCD and is always worried about being killed by germs. When we initially dated for 2 yrs her OCD never become a problem. She made efforts to control and we have plenty of intimate moments but once we got married all changed. I feel like Im trapped. The wife that I once thanked for taking me out of the box and showing me the world has put me into an even smaller box I once was in. I feel like my home has now become a maze and not a place I want to go to when I have a bad day especially when she is home. I have endless rules at home. As soon as I come home first thing I must do is clean the door knob and wash me hands. Then I must change out of my work cloths and wash my hands. I am not allowed to enter parts of my house because they are contaminated. I must ask her to get me food because she knows what can be touched and if I touch it i get verbally abused. My office has become a dumping ground. I cannot take in the mail because the mailbox is contaminated and she said she will take care and doesnt. We moved into the house 2 yrs ago and she will not finish unpacking because the boxes are contaminated. If i ask her to clean she gets enraged. Also doctors have told her to go on medicine and she wont, she says I must learn to live with it. Now shes talking about having a child and I dont want this life for my child. Also I cannot be intimite with her because I dont see the person I feel in love with I see this figure that has made my life a living hell. I dont believe in divorce but I have no idea what to do. I cannot continue living this life. I feel like I'm going crazy and becoming a terrible person because I am always angry and many times I retaliate the OCD with verbal abuse. This is by no means right but I cant control my anger and frustration anymore. Please help me.

I have only just become so desperate to join an OCD support group. I need help. The father of my child has OCD... we have been together for over three years. when we got together I knnew he had OCD but over time it has become more apparent. I can't touch a light switch, a door handle, a glass or any cutlery. I can't touch a towel or a cup. Infact I can't touch anything... even a can of coke or a bottle of water. After reading the comments on here, I know he has the worst case of OCD because I cannot touch ANYTHING in our house. When I was pregnant I was only allowed in our bedroom. I couldnt keep food let alone water in the house. I couldnt use the toilet.... when I leaned against the front door because my back hurt so much (because I was waiting for him for over an hour for him to straighten up the house) He pushed me to the floor and then opened the door and threw me out because "i didnt respect his property". It was in Switzerland by the way and -10c. He constantly tells me I shouldnt touch his property. My daughter crys when he pushes me away from "his bedroom". Why am I still with him. Is anyone in the same position I am? or am I just crazy like him? I am beginning to think it is rubbing off on me

It is bitter sweet to sind this site. I hate to know other people are going through what I have to go through every day. But, at the same time it gives me a tiny amount of comfort. My partners obsessive behaviour is so bad that he blames me for everyting. Things are so bad and I have always known that things were really bad but since I have been been on this site I now know that the OCD he has is one of the worst cases. He wont tell me what his instrusive thoughts are but I can guess. I really want to find some support. He has cut me off from my friends and my family.

I feel like this all the time. I feel like my life is over and noone can help me. I have tried for over 3 years and I will keep trying. I feel like this is going to kill me. I feel like OCD will kill me soon

I see no one has commented on this post in over two years. I feel the same way as all of you. Anyone have any good coping mechanisms? I worry so much about my husband all the time and that he will even be able to complete very easy tasks.

I have seen my fiance have OCD 'moments'. Like, Say she were walking out of a mall. She has a fear, that the door will fall on someone, despite their being several feet away. That is one of her fears. She is also a hoarder. Well, So what I still love her. Yes, I have seen the 'hoarding' shows on cable. I still love her. I have also thought creatively about her OCD. Like a case of food, with say, 24 cans of peas. Think of it like the three E's, Essential, Extra, and Excess. The cardboard box will always be 'excess'. But 'Position #1' of the cans will always be 'Essential', 'Position #2' and every other position will be 'Extra', as the cans got rotated in a conveyor-belt fashion.

I thought that all the time and then I thought...no its not! And kicked him out. Best thing I ever did in my life, EVER! My advice is...leave. LEAVE LEAVE LEAVE LEAVE LEAVE.

I got married and moved in with my husband a year ago. I'm not sure if i'd call it OCD that he has or what but these are a few things he does and my nerves cannot stand this much longer. He won't throw anything out, and picks through the garbage to see what i have thrown out , if i break a glass, he needs to immediately replace it with a new set ( same exact one) He's on his 3rd Cocker Spaniel, same color,same name, same sex, etc.. he comes home from work and inspects the house. Ex tabs have to be wiped down( no water spots on them) shower has to be wiped down, no lights left on in certain rooms, if i turn a light on in the bedroom he shuts it off and puts the dim lamp on. Won't waste food, if my son doesn't finish something he will either eat it, save it or dump it back in the container. I could go on and on about stuff all day. Certain things he's fussy about but other things he doesn't care about that he should care about like his old carpets that his dogs over the years pissed up. That is a big deal to me and i have tried everything to get them clean and stain free.When i moved in everything was filthy but yet he'll keep a useless item neat and clean in a package that is worthless. He's always behind me inspecting what knife i use, what spoon i used, i turn my back for one second and he took my glass and give me a smaller one to use. It enrages me at times. He'll obsess forever on grocery store prices, or whatever he buys he'll keep the box forever , just incase. So we have a garage full of boxes. I love him to pieces but i'm wondering how i am ever going to be able to cope with this for the rest of my life with him. Does anybody out there have a husband similiar to mine?

I just found this site and I have to admit that I think this all of the time. I have been with my wife for over a decade but I am now at a point where I am starting to realize that she is going to need to start making some changes or we will not be continuing on this journey together.

I have been going through some extreme stress in my life over the past few years related to job issues and what I have come to realize is that my wife's struggle with OCD has only compounded this and made it so much worse. I also have come to the conclusion that as much as I love her I have given more that I ever should of in terms of accommodating her illness and at some point I neeed to make a decision to be happy.

While I believe in working as hard as you can to help your spouse through their struggles this does not mean sacrificing your life and your happiness. Marriage is a two way street and whether your spouse has OCD or is an alcoholic they are under the same obligations we are to make our marriages work.

I am relieved to know I am not alone. My wife of 11 years has OCD. It has gotten worse over the last few years. My children and I are constantly in fear because of this disease. As long as everything goes her way, she is fine and I am the greatest husband in the world with the greatest kids who ever walked this earth. However, the second one of us does not do exactly what she wants, in the exact order she wants, in the exact time she wants it done, all hell breaks loose. Her way is the only way. Her constant complaint is that nobody ever listens to her. Oh, we are listening alright. We just can't believe what is coming out of her mouth. Her ridiculous demands are really wearing me out. Constantly having to wash our hands, taking several showers, changing our clothes, having to do tasks in exactly the order she wants, don't touch this, don't touch that, the list goes on. One minute she is perfectly fine and the next she snaps. I have just recently accepted that my wife has OCD. I ignored it because I didn't want to believe it. I also didn't realize what OCD really was. I thought she was just a neat freak. But it has gradually gotten worse. Early in our marriage, I just thought we fought a lot. I love her but feel trapped. Trapped for me and trapped for my children. Recently, she has become verbally abusive and even physically abusive. I am afraid to leave her alone with our own children. She becomes very nasty, yells and blames everyone else because we are not meeting her ridiculous demands. My next step is to find a doctor who can properly diagnose her and see what can be done. We cannot live like this and I owe it to myselft and my children to protect us from OCD. Just like InfinitePoss wrote I too believe in working as hard as you can to help your spouse but not at the expense of my own happiness and my childrens. It is a two way street and my wife is under the same obligations I am to make our marriage work. Thanks for listening.

I totally understand what you're saying. My husband and I have been married over a year, and I'm just starting to realize the extent of his OCD, which like your situation often comes with some pretty intense anger and verbal abuse. We have had a really rough year, which has kind of peaked with a miscarriage we had a month ago. Now, I'm really suffering, and asking myself the same question. I really want to stay with him, but I'm starting to wonder, how is he going to be as a father? How is going to be as a life partner? He is so sweet but when the OCD hits....he's another person. We started working with a therapist and he has a therapy session schedule for November....but he still fluctuates between believing it will 1) get better on its own 2) be something he can treat or 3) that what he thinks is justified and cause by others. I literally feel crazy when I try to argue with him and I just wish I knew what to do....

Get help get help get help. It cannot be handled on its own. Ever.
