Life After Divorce Support Group
This community is dedicated to starting over after a divorce. With the marriage over, how do individuals begin a new chapter in their lives and what hurdles do they face? Divorce is often one of the most traumatic periods in a person's life. Studies show it is the second-most stressful event in life, after the death of a spouse.

I'll be divorced for a year next month. I left in 2016 from a toxic marriage. Sometimes I get a bit lonely for the company of another adult my age. The thought of dating again causes me anxiety. I'm over 50 so it's tough even finding friends. My ex-husband was controlling and didn't like me having any friends or if I did he ran them off. The only friends I had were mutual friends whom I don't see much anymore. I've tried the online thing just to find a friend but that doesn't work no one's looking for friends. I live deep in the country so there are no meetup groups anywhere around me. It's not that I'm opposed to dating entirely I just feel like I'm not really dateable material and I don't think I could deal with the devastation of rejection at this point in my life. Has anyone ever just resigned themselves to staying single and alone? Do you eventually just make peace with it?

I had gone to the grocery store. When I wheeled my cartback to my car I just stool there a minute. A few spacesaway a Tesla Cyber truck was parked. I had seen it on theroad a few times for a few seconds. But not close up.It looked like it belonged to 2126 and not 2026. I wasgoing to take a picture of the car but the owners cameback and drove away. It was an ordinary middle age...

Unfortunately I live fifteen miles from town. It's a rich little town full of it's own self importance. A lot of very rich people live here. Then there are the F well known polo players. You see them all over town with sweet young things on their arms. After 33 years with the ex I really don't think much of ever getting involved with another man. I keep my distance and I stay way too busy. Yes, they all look so old and worn out.
I'm not totally against dating. It's not going to happen where I live now. I was raised to be a loner and had to learn to be independent.
I have things I want to do while I still have the time. I have a farm and board horses and that's pretty much a full time job. It's what I wanted to do for a long time and the ex didn't want people around when he got home from work.
I'm good at what I do and I take very good care of the horses and dogs on this farm. The horses don't cheat, they don't drink any beer. We did have one horse that liked to have some of the ex's beer. .For the first time in my life I'm doing what I want to do and I love my life. I would love it more in some other town but this is where I got left.
I'm sure you will find what you are looking for. Don't get discouraged the right woman will come into your life.
I remember my mom saying in her 60s that she just couldn't figure out who that woman staring back at her in the mirror was. She still considered herself to be in her late 20s! I can relate to that. I guess that's not a good thing. Reality hits hard.
Good luck all, life is sure interesting huh?
We had our health, both of us had good income, no kids, he didn't want to do anything. It took a long time for me to understand why he pushed getting married during the engagement--so we could STOP going out! We did absolutely nothing, he even hated TV, "only watch good stuff (PBS channel) not junk." I told him--get yourself a recliner to sit and die." Years later, he found somebody else to marry him. She was going to divorce him too but he came down with congestive heart failure then he died in 2016. I thought you needed a heart to have this problem!
