Life After Divorce Support Group
This community is dedicated to starting over after a divorce. With the marriage over, how do individuals begin a new chapter in their lives and what hurdles do they face? Divorce is often one of the most traumatic periods in a person's life. Studies show it is the second-most stressful event in life, after the death of a spouse.
My policy is to be truthful, cosy and factual. If I dont understand some behaviour my son is worried about I say so, but I make sure that I dont sound critical about it. You cant protect him with mistruths but you can make it so it is easy for him to talk about it. The hard thing is keeping your opinion of your ex to yourself and not obvious from the tone of your voice, but if you can mask it the conversations are better. You cant give him the answers or a fix, but you can give him an ear and help him to see its not something he is supposed to understand.
