Life After Divorce Support Group
This community is dedicated to starting over after a divorce. With the marriage over, how do individuals begin a new chapter in their lives and what hurdles do they face? Divorce is often one of the most traumatic periods in a person's life. Studies show it is the second-most stressful event in life, after the death of a spouse.

I always talk to my cat! And myself for that matter, lol. Not a thing wrong w/that. Start writing a list of things you enjoy. Then look for groups centered around those things. If available, join a meditation/mindfulness group. (If there aren't any, check out the net - there's lots of info and videos. Spend time in nature. Next to therapy & meditation/mindfulness, nature is the next best thing. Take things slowly.
There's a great video on youtube called "How to be Alone." ~healing hugs~
Take in all the positive feedback and messages....and COMPLIMENTS from others. Don't dismiss it...take it all in. Look in the mirror and find some positives. I have never met or seen you, but I would believe you to be a warm, caring person ...I also have acquired the sense of humor (serves us as a great coping mechanism sometimes)....That is a good quality. and I would lay odds you have a beaming smile and bright twinkle in those eyes. (If you don't see it...keep looking...I bet it is under there. haha)
As far as finding friends.... I have come across many on here. I am still living with stbx. (feel funny calling him that since he is determined to prolong and fight the divorce. So I am just starting.) Even in the same room with him , I still feel so incredibly lonely. I started to open up and chat and share on here. I am on here more often than not.
I have come out of my shell....now I am way too chatty, overly curious and not afraid to ask (or say) what is on my mind....and I do still have that sometimes silly sense of humor. As far as I am concerned, no one can have too many friends I would be happy to consider you one....(that is if you could put up with me. lol)
Someone told me long ago, when I was feeling very low, unattractive and worthless...."Put your light on the hilltop, because YOU ARE truly beautiful indeed." He saw the entire picture...inside and out. Maybe you should remember that too?
My thoughts and prayers are with you. (and you are not a burden.... no matter what you were told) The more you open up and reach out to others, the easier it will be. You just have to watch you don't get quite as bad as me (That they threaten to shut you up with duct tape! lol)
There must be something about me that most people don't like and I'm used to being alone. I know the ex isolated me from meeting too many people. There was always stuff to help him with because he didn't have the time. We moved a lot with his job. I'm happy now and I fill up my time with the horses I board on my farm. The farm I got from the ex. I earned this farm after 33 years of marriage.
