Life After Divorce Support Group
This community is dedicated to starting over after a divorce. With the marriage over, how do individuals begin a new chapter in their lives and what hurdles do they face? Divorce is often one of the most traumatic periods in a person's life. Studies show it is the second-most stressful event in life, after the death of a spouse.
It also gives you perspective on what it is like to be alone (and its not bad) . This is good so you don't become fixated on being in a relationship.
Two years into my being single, and I'm finally ok being alone. I never thought I would be happy when the kids go to their dads, but now I look forward to it.
How do I feel about it, at this point I am OK with it. Do I wish I had someone to watch my favorite show with sure, but do I want a relationship not at this point.
I am no longer mourning the loss of my marriage, I have finally accepted that it is over and I have grieved the loss. But I am no where ready to put myself out there yet, I never want to hurt like that again.
I am just starting to get out, I have started working out with a personal trainer and a small group of other ladies... I've also started selling a Direct Sales product at home parties just to force myself out of the house.
Kids still keep me busy but when they are away I need to find the new ME
But it's just like riding a bike--you will find your way back.
I have been single now for almost six year and I love it (sometimes a little too much). I occasionally long for companionship with a man, but that longing is typically short-lived when I look at some of the losers that are available in my age range. I guess the thing I love most about being single is I am accountable to only me. After spending 28 years catering to a verbally/emotionally abusive cheater, I like the focus being on me for a change.
I agree with the others that you need to learn how to be alone, and need to take time and learn about yourself.
Sending hugs!
