I continued my way of either white lying or exaggerating all day long. It's so natural to me that I can't even look back and pick out the lies from the truth, because they are completely blended together. THEN I GOT ONE OF THE GREAT SHOCKS WHEN I CAME ACROSS THIS QUOTE FROM A PHILOSOPHER, SAYING HOW HORRIBLE LIES ARE, AND THAT WHITE LIES ARE THE WORST OF ALL! I am stunned and need to think about this all day tomorrow:
"People think that a liar gains a victory over his victim. What I've learned is that a lie is an act of self-abdication, because one surrenders one's reality to the person to whom one lies, making that person one's master, condemning oneself from then on to faking the sort of reality that person's view requires to be faked. ... there are no white lies, as lies are the blackest of destruction, and a white lie is the blackest of all. I was still faking reality, and it had the inexorable result: instead of protection, it brought me a more terrible kind of ordeal...." -- Atlas Shrugged the book
