"why do people who like people of the same sex find it socially acceptable to be married?"
you aren't going to get a lot of answers. Socially acceptable? Don't we deserve the same rights as everyone else? At one point it wasn't
"socially acceptable" for blacks to ride at the front of the bus. Did that make it right? Did they have to think of why it would be "socially acceptable" to ride at the front of the bus? No, everyone should have the same rights.
We are a minority, and like every minority have to fight to have the same rights as everyone else. In my marriage we raise children, love each other, and contribute to the household. In what way is that different than a straight "marriage"? As a matter of fact, it is far more equitable than when I was married to a guy! He did nothing, he spent all our money, and never helped raise the kids.
If you are going to do this from a sociological viewpoint...you need to ask neutral questions. You need to form a reason for asking your questions, and then create questions to answer your reason.
Just my two cents...and a little disgruntlement.
