my partner and i have been together for nearly 5 years. first year was fine ,but since we have rowed over different things but always got through it. basically the rows was over the time she spent on her pc and not helping round the house at all. i use to do the finances but somehow i don't know how to be honest my partner and her mum persuaded me to let my partner take over because they said i hadnt saved any money, which i tried explaining was difficult to do as my partner demanded 50 a week which she wastes on dvds. i should add we are both on benefits but money up to christmas was always joint. then late last year i lost my aunt and i'm soon to inherit alot of money which means part of our benefits stops.my partner was angry because her benefits will stop . but as i told her it is not my fault. we will both still get disability benefit. then i had a small amount of my inheritance paid into our joint account . to buy new flooring etc . the rest of the money i get in a few months time. next thing i know she is making excuses to take my money,we used some of it for the vets which she said i would get back but then made another excuse not to pay me it back. so i quickly took what was left of my money out and into a new bank account this infuriated her . but i couldn't risk her taking anymore of my money as i needed the rest for legal fees as i'm buying the house i rent. so then her and her mum decided that we should have our own benefits and pay half the bills,i had suggested this over a year ago but my partner and her mum wouldn't hear of it. so the situation is now my partner has just got herself a bank account and is putting money across to it saying its her half of the money ,again making excuses why i haven't got my half of my benefits . ok i know i'm being took for a mug ,but here's the thing bothering me. during the discussion her mum ,me and her had i asked them both twice very clearly if this arrangement of paying half the bills etc would stay after part of the benefits stops and i get my main inheritance, they both said yes . so the other day i pointed out to my partner that when those benefits stops she will have about 24 left a week to which she told me if that was the case she would move out and get her own place. now this feels like a emotional threat i give her money or she will leave me. at this discussion with her mum i asked what happens when the house needs decorating etc her mum said i pay for that as it will be my house. i will add at this point my aunt left her house to my brother and me and we will be renting it out for a income and after buying the house i'm renting there will be only enough left to manage on for a few years with the income from my aunts house so it's not like i'm going to have alot of money to spend even on myself. so if she threatens to leave because i won't give her any of my money should i just call her bluff . this 24 she will be left with is to spend entirely on herself once shes brought her petrol and tobacca for the week. i won't be getting even that left a week. but she expects me to give her money out of the remainder of my inheritance which we have to live off .how would you handle this situation.

I say let her leave. She is being selfish and her mother is backing her up. You need to worry about your future. This money won't last. If she loved you and cared about you she would understand why you need to watch your spending and save what you have. You are trying to make a future for the both of you. Take care of yourself because if the money runs out I have a feeling you will be out in the cold left holding the financial bag. Proof is in the pudding.
