communication?

what are ways you and your partner communcate? We have been recently having a problem where we both plan things and then wind of having to cancel one of them

neither one of us are (or have been in the past) good at communication but we try very hard to just make it happen no matter what because i believe that is one of the single most important things to keeping a relationship in tip top shape. there have been times that we were both assuming what the other was thinking get ourselves upset...but then we talk about it and realize we were just assuming all wrong... sometimes its a true effort to do but i think it is so important.

Maybe's its not the way you communicate, as much as that you DO. If you two live together, why not a calander? Mark it up...and the other is forced to ask about the date? Then you two get to talk. Course, you could always just communicate when someone wants to do something?

Use text and phone to ask the other 'before' making plans. If my partner wasn't around, I rarely committed to something for the both of us or even just my participation. I always said, "Let me talk to XXX, and I'll get back to you."
The calendar idea also worked great for me when I was partnered.
