Nobody's forcing you to take pain meds post op. And I highly doubt in Great Britain they do Lithotripsy with just an NSAID and no Anesthesia, unless they strap you to the table and just enjoy torturing you, it's not something you'd want to be fully conscious for.

I know about the bleeding, hence I didn't understand why they offer diclofenac!
If I had to describe it, it was like having the renal colic non-stop. When it did calm down, I would stand up and feel the shifting of the kidney (due to gravity) move the ureter and cause severe nonstop burning. I cannot find this complication anywhere online and it's probably not common so I thought I should post it.
