Keratoconus is a degenerative non-inflammatory disorder of the eye in which structural changes within the cornea cause it to thin and change to a more conical shape than its normal even curve. Keratoconus can cause substantial distortion of the vision, with multiple images, streaking and sensitivity to light all often reported by the patient.
Hello, I want to connect with others who have taken Accutane in the past and are now suffering keratoconus. I took it over 20 years ago in my teens for acne - the result was I suffered permanent loss of night vision as well as progressively worsening keratoconus.
I believe accutane, a vitamin-A analogue, displaces normal vit A from healthy growing eyes and causes sever irreparable damage. This is somewhat supported in the literature but after calling the manufacturer, Roche, I got the feeling they do not want to know, and may even suppress the truth.
I wish to conduct an informal survey, which you may feel free to share with others you know or with your physician, whether there is an association between Accutane use and subsequent permanent eye damage, such as night vision loss and keratoconus/globus.
If there is sufficient evidence, we may wish to consider a class-action lawsuit.

I was diagnosed with Keratoconus at the age of 24 and testicular cancer at the age of 26. I'm also fatigued all the time.
There is so much poison in our environments it is hard to pinpoint any one cause, but I've been reading a lot of stories about people who took Accutane and it doesn't look like it was a good decision, to say the least.
I wish I wasn't prescribed such a powerful drug at such a young age, when I didn't know any better and trusted all of the adults around me. Now the pharma industry will have me by the ball for the rest of my life.
He has a sister who will be checked but she did not take Accutane. There is some evidence it may be hereditary but no one in the family has been previously diagnosed.
I asked the doctors to let me know if there is a connection to Accutane. His assistant did not know of any. I asked her to see if it can be a question added to the study such as Did you take Accutane?
The dematologist said he did not know of any connection between the two but did say it may affect night vision when taking it.
