Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) Support Group
Irritable bowel syndrome is a common intestinal disorder that is characterized by bloating, abdominal pain, diarrhea, cramping, and constipation. Typically no abnormalities appear during standard medical testing, and so irritable bowel syndrome is identified by the symptoms. Although irritable bowel syndrome can cause serious discomfort, the intestines are not harmed.
this past week I have and still have a flu bug and my system is all out of whack. flu meds, cough syrup is making my whole system go whacky so I have been using the Imodium a lot more.
I encourage everyone and anyone thinking of using it without guidance from a naturopath etc to do ..research and research some more.
For me it is working like a charm! for my D, however if you have C I would research how others are using it. I have heard some are taking it in a drink of warm water.
now, from what I am noticing myself the slippery elm swells up. I have noticed that if some is left in my glass and I fill it with water to soak ( easier to clean) it swells ....so I am thinking it is giving me bulk and at the same time coating and healing\? within the colon area.
I have not used the tablet form, not for any particular reason other than the routine I am using is working for me.
I am also still sticking to the diet that works for me. no gluten, no red meat, no dairy, no greasy foods and lots of water!!!!...I would love to say I can drink coffee again but nope...it is a no go..which I found out the hard way ;-)
in some ways..this will be a real telling....as it already is!!
............for the first while I only took the slippery elm in the mornings.....then I started taking it in the morning and the evening and a lot more of it...about 2 heaped spoonfuls at least...........now it is working again!....I've not had to take any Imodium for the last couple of days, however have them on hand. and will start using it again like I was if it flares up.
slippery elm of a morning, smaller amount in the afternoon and then 2 Imodium about an hr before lunch.i feel so much better now it is in my system again, I just feel......better:-)
