Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) Support Group
Irritable bowel syndrome is a common intestinal disorder that is characterized by bloating, abdominal pain, diarrhea, cramping, and constipation. Typically no abnormalities appear during standard medical testing, and so irritable bowel syndrome is identified by the symptoms. Although irritable bowel syndrome can cause serious discomfort, the intestines are not harmed.
Also I find that drinking hot liquids .. herbal tea, or even hot water in the morning helps my body to work better.. I know very well what it is to be impacted.. after being on intense narcotic meds for pain... you forget everything for days until it is too late.. then you know you are in trouble and only dynomite will set you free.
there is a chance that you may have trouble with glutten.. it is a notorious cause for bowel troubles that is usually misdiagnosed for years... you may want to try avoiding wheat based products or other glutten foods for a while.. Dairy is another culprit. unless you know already what your trigger is. Avoidance is your best bet. I take little orange pills I cant remember their name... brand name is likely ducolax.. it works very well and I try to stay hydrated at all times.. products like metamucil.. need lots of water .. at least 8 ounces at once then if you can tollerate another glass to sip on afterwards.. it creates a mucous in the lining of the bowel so the stool passes easier regardless of the consistancy.
this has been a strange topic but I hope this has been a help. from one sufferer to another.. and to answer your question about IBS.... it is what it is... if something you have, eat or do upsets the bowel.. it is Irritable.. Bowel.. and a syndrome. unless it is a disease like colitis or crohns.. they have specific treatments.
remember to relax and breathe... it makes all the difference in how much pain you endure. 0/; D
I have thought about the breathing, and I do those squats prescribed by yoga. But my middle just turns off!
Oddly, I become very normal in odd situations. when we had a black out in my town and the water didn't work in my building (so, no flushing) I thought "no probs" since I figured I wouldn't get the urge to go, anyway. But I DID get an intense urge. Very perverse, no?
Another time we were moving (ha-ha) and the movers just took the last pallet of stuff out the door. I suddenly had to GO SO BAD. It's like the house was empty and I should be, too.
So, I know it's some kind of very complicated mental connection and not diet.( btw, I had stopped dairy for 2 months and nothing changed.)
I'll look for the little pills. Is it Colace do you think? It's what my doc suggested for travel when things get even worse. I haven't bought any yet. And the metamucil sounds like it's worth a try. I thought that was just fibre. but if it smooths things, that's probably what I need.
Thanks much!
