Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) Support Group
Irritable bowel syndrome is a common intestinal disorder that is characterized by bloating, abdominal pain, diarrhea, cramping, and constipation. Typically no abnormalities appear during standard medical testing, and so irritable bowel syndrome is identified by the symptoms. Although irritable bowel syndrome can cause serious discomfort, the intestines are not harmed.
When I have really bad diahrea it burns like that, doesn't matter what I have eaten the last few days. I also have bleeding, but I have always thought that was just hemorrhoids. It can go for several days like this. Very painful. I just have to get through it I guess. I have never discussed this topic with my GI.
I can help you with the acid reflux. The newest research shows that you can heal your gut with a combination of probiotics, digestive enzymes, and something that is fermented. I started drinking Kombucha cold tea about 4 months ago, it is a fermented tea. The fermentation is the most important part for healing. You could actually eat a few tablespoons of sauerkraut a day, because it is fermented, and get the healing effect in your stomach. I've gone from taking a pill for my stomach, plus 20-30 tums a day, down to just my Dexilant. I'm thinking I will be off the stomach meds by the beginning of next year. I've had this problem for 37 years now.
I hope this helps. Hopefully others here can your answer question better than I have. Good luck in finding answers. I've never thought to discuss this with my GI. A good question.
