Irritable bowel syndrome is a common intestinal disorder that is characterized by bloating, abdominal pain, diarrhea, cramping, and constipation. Typically no abnormalities appear during standard medical testing, and so irritable bowel syndrome is identified by the symptoms. Although irritable bowel syndrome can cause serious discomfort, the intestines are not harmed.

I know this isn't the most enjoyable topic to discuss, but does anyone else deal with hemorrhoids? I have IBS-C, but my constipation hasn't been too bad lately. However, I have had a couple of harder stools, and they have caused my hemorrhoids to flare up bad. I am pretty sure I have internal hemorrhoids, and have had them for a few years. Do these ever go away? It seems like they never do. My mom told me the only way to get rid of them is surgery, and that thought is causing me a lot of anxiety because I fear medical procedures.

Any tips for dealing with this would be greatly appreciated.

I've had the internal hemorrhoids since my first kid, he's 31. Never had surgery. As long as I don't get too constipated I'm o.k. I wouldn't worry to much about them. If you want a doctors opinion you should go and ask any questions you have for your own peace of mind. Feel better.

Thanks, Lynn. Sorry to hear you deal with this, too, but it makes me feel better to know that you never had to have surgery or anything. I tend to panic about things very easily.

I'd see a dr early rather than later just to be cautious. I had internal hemorroid's that became external thrombosed hemorroid's. Worse than childbirth and I did that without pain medication 20 years ago. I have constant diarrhea, so it's not always the straining, the irritation can cause them too or sitting in the bathroom for to long. I had to have the surgery, there was no other choice at this point. He said they wouldn't come back at least not on the left side since it was removed, a possibility that I could have it happen on the right side. This was my experience. I hope it helps you a bit.

bosley, that sounds really painful. Sorry you had to go through that. Thank you for sharing your experience, though. I know I should probably see a doctor about this and you are right, it would be better to see one sooner rather than later.

I have horrible problems with the hemorrhoids and very heavy bleeding. They are internal and external. I also get terrible pain during a bad episode.
I had the rubber banding done, 3 sessions. It helped for about 6 months. I have a dr who will do the surgery but I keep putting it off. She insists I see another gastro dr . I have been to 3 so far. They will order another colonscopy.
It will be my 6th and hate the drink. ha
It is not a topic that I like to discuss or that people like to hear about. Thankfully my husband and a few others know and are very supportive.
During bad episodes 1x a month for 4-5 days the bleeding gets so heavy at times I am wiped out.

I would like to know if anyone has the surgery and about the recovery.

I should have explained, the pain is my stomach, the IBSD. Not from the hemorrhoids.
