Where exactly on your left side? This sounds like either gas pockets where your colon bends, or less likely but possible, an irritation of the omega blossom (a nerve cluster in that area)

Yes agree but my GI Dr. says gas so take gas x its a start, and helps rid you of the pain if that's what it is you'll know. Hope you feel better.

My cramps are more generalized. I also feel bloated......once I am able to go to the bathroom, I get some relief.

My docs blame that sort of pain on the fact that the sigmoid colon is on the left so there is more colon on the left than the right, and that's the place where things are most likely to sit or get stuck. But yeah the cramps and cold sweat can definitely just go along with IBS. Do you still have your gallbladder because that stuff is even more common with IBS if your gallbladder has been removed? It's called dumping, not as in going to the bathroom, but as in your liver doesn't have a place to store the bile so it just dumps it straight into your intestines. It'll feel like everything is squeezing and trying to rush out of your guts at the same time.
