Interstitial Cystitis (IC) is a urinary bladder disease of unknown cause characterised by pelvic and intense bladder pain, urinary frequency (as often as every 10 minutes), and pain with urination. It is not unusual for patients to experience nocturia and pain with sexual intercourse. IC is also known as painful bladder syndrome (PBS), particularly outside of the USA.

PRELIEF DEPENDENCY?

Hi everyone,

I ordered some prelief from the states a few weeks ago, and have had it with some meals that slightly bother me, and noticed that it did in fact help. However, since I started using it for some meals, other things like grapes and organic corn cereal etc. have started to hurt when I eat them... has anyone else experienced a prelief dependency? If this is possible, I will definitely stop taking it altogether...

I recommend you going to www.ichelp.com and or go to IC Association website and contact a professional that will explain whether or not prelief has a chemical componet that your body can become dependant.

I would think that due to the fact tha prelief isn't a control substance and not addictive you body cannot become dependant. I take prelief with certain foods and I don't feel dependent. Unfortunately, our bodies are sensitive to everything we put into it from food to medications.

How's your physiotherapy going? Where do you live? Canada?

I don't feel dependant upon it, HOWEVER, I have found that I have to use it a couple times a day to "keep it in my system" so that it works when I really need it to. Did that make sense? In other words, even if I'm having an IC friendly meal, I will take it so that the next time I have a non-IC-friendly meal, the Prelief will be effective. I guess you could kind of call this a dependance, but for me, it's well worth it!

Okay thank you... unfortunately it's not worth it to me because I can't get it in Canada and there's only one place I can order it from, which is expensive and it takes more than 2 weeks to get here because of customs ugh. Yes, I live in Canada, and physiotherapy is actually going really well so far thanks :) It's painful, but I think it's already making a bit of a difference.
