Interstitial Cystitis (IC) Support Group
Interstitial Cystitis (IC) is a urinary bladder disease of unknown cause characterised by pelvic and intense bladder pain, urinary frequency (as often as every 10 minutes), and pain with urination. It is not unusual for patients to experience nocturia and pain with sexual intercourse. IC is also known as painful bladder syndrome (PBS), particularly outside of the USA.
I'm sorry for the situation you are in. The biggest question to ask yourself is...what makes you happy and can you handle both at the same time? Is the government job full time or part-time? To give you an example... I was making good money last year but I so badly wanted to be bilingual so after planning for a long time, my husband and I moved down to Mexico with little money. But, I'm so happy now because I speak fluent Spanish. I gave up a great paying job to learn a second language and now, because of the economy, I can't find a job. I gave up one thing to go after the thing I really really wanted. Is there a way that you can work less hours or do you need the income? Or you could still continue working the same amount of hours and spend more time in school by graduating a little later. It depends on what is more important to you at the moment and if you need the income of your current job. As far as the pain goes, unfortunately I take narcotics also, especially when the pain is so severe that I can't even sit down. One recommendation would be to try relaxation exercises during the day, which would help relieve the stress, just a little bit. Weigh out both options... I always make a Pros and Cons list because it helps me see what I will benefit from the most. I hope this helps a little, I know what it's like to be overwhelmed with too many things that you would like to maintain. Good luck and please keep us posted.
