I'm so sorry you're having such a bad reaction. I just ordered some CystoProtek myself and I'm already in a flare so I think I'm going to hold off on trying it. Good luck to you!

Hi Kat, I'm so sorry that this med didn't work for you. Do you know if CystoProtek is the same as Misoprostol? I'm currently taking Misoprostol and Elmiron at the same time and haven't noticed much of an improvement with the Misoprostol. I guess I'm wondering if it's the same med as the CysoProtek? Have you tried Elmiron or the cocktail installations? I hope you find something that will work for you. Please let me know- thanks.

Lajeana - I've never actually heard about Misoprostol. I am taking Elmiron and getting Uracyst instillations every other week. It's so confusing that I reacted like that because it's made specifically for IC. Oh well. I'm still throwing up/fainting today... ugh... just hope this will end sooner than later. Another thing that's really weird is that my temperature is below normal and has been this week... strange... thanks for your replies!

Hope you recover soon sweetie! You can never go wrong with lots of water to flush out anything making you sick.

Thank you! I'm trying but if I eat anything I throw up and if I drink too much I throw up... it looks like soon it will be an IV in the hospital for me but I'm trying the best I can to avoid that!

I hope you feel better soon! Different people react differently to some of the binders and fillers in meds. Maybe that's what it is. Either way, it sucks! ...and I hope you get better soon. My thoughts are with you.

cystoprotek put me in one of the worst flares in all of my 8 yearsof having ic. but then again i am extremely medication sensitive.

I'm so sorry you are having a flare right now. I have used Cystoprotek and it's okay, not much results either way. Have you changed your diet? I also use Prelief and Pyridium when needed. Have you tried bladder installations? I've had pretty good results from them. Not perfect, but it's been the best treatment for me so far. I haven't tried Elmiron or other oral meds because I am afraid of the side effects. My doctor wants to put me on Neurontin, but I said no for now because of the side effects. I heard it can make you very sleepy and in a foggy state of mind. Also heard Neurontin can cause a major weight gain. Has anyone here tried this med and had any side effects?

I'm over the flare from the CystoProtek thank goodness, and gave the bottle to my doctor so that her patients can try it before they put money into getting their own bottle. Yes, I've tried pretty much everything. I take Elmiron -- the side effects were ridiculous the first few months but other than headaches my body is used to it and my hair is growing back. I use Uracyst instillations which are amazing and local anesthetic shots and internal valium and amitriptyline, etc. etc. I have tried gabapentin and it was the best pain relief I've ever had since this all started but once it built up in my system the side effects got too bad... crossed/foggy vision, etc. --- I'm VERY sensitive to medications though and I'd definitely say it's worth a try. It did make me put on crazy weight even when I was hardly eating but honestly, if you're in as much pain as I am, it's more than worth it.
