Interstitial Cystitis (IC) Support Group

Interstitial Cystitis (IC) is a urinary bladder disease of unknown cause characterised by pelvic and intense bladder pain, urinary frequency (as often as every 10 minutes), and pain with urination. It is not unusual for patients to experience nocturia and pain with sexual intercourse. IC is also known as painful bladder syndrome (PBS), particularly outside of the USA.

Does anyone have problem with B vitamins? I have been told to take 1 gram each day of folic acid, but what I remember is that the b vitamins bother my IC. I am taking methotrexate and remicade for RA and think that the remicade flared up my ic right now.

Sorry you are having a flare. I can't take multiple vitamins but do take vitamin E and D. I wish some pharmacist would put together a multiple vitamin that IC people can take--he'd get rich. I hope you find a way to take your meds that doesn't bother your IC. Do you take Pre-lief? Do you try to follow the IC diet? I don't know anything about RA, but I know it can be devastating.
I'm sorry about your losing your husband in such a way. Not having time to say goodbye is painful, too.

B vitamins are a typical trigger for IC, I know they're important, but try to avoid all of them as much as possible. Since I stopped taking them, I've noticed an improvement in my symptoms.

I have 3 monthly injections of vitamin B12 this doesn't seem to bother my IC.
I have been having these for over 5 years now, I have recently been started on Iron and Vitamin D so far I seem ok with them.
