There are racists all over. I personally will maintain my posture and remain polite and kind, and let those who want to play the fool play it. Race should not be a point of division in a relationship as long as both have the same moral principles (usually religion). This is more important. A muslim should marry a muslim (no matter the race), a Christian should marry a Christian (no matter the race), and so on. I only recommend this as there are serious difference within these faiths that can cause a great deal of division. A non-believer probably won't like any seriously religious person as it is not a serious matter for them. But race, should not be an issue, though it is and some people will never change. In my opinion the real cultural divides are religous, some are political. So here is another point, politically equal is almost as important, but not quite, depends on how zealous people are. My opinion, so I'm sure there are folks from all cultures who disagree with me. But that would be my rule of thumb.

I totally agree about the religious perspective. While I know successful marriages of different faiths, differences on the inside are much greater than those on the outside. It's all personal choices tho. If someone is in a relationship to someone with a different faith, more power to them. It must be much more difficult.

In most areas my husband and I are treated well although I get some nasty looks from some people who are a bit older than my 55 years. My parent's generation frowned upon mixed racial marriages.

I haven't been well received by some of my husband's female friends who are African American like him.

I understand that some Black women don't like that a White woman marries one of their good men. I say that because my husband is a successful person who generally socialized with African American people outside the workplace.

His own daughter is angry about his choice to marry me. She lives and works in an area of Los Angeles where it's mostly African American. In fact, I don't think her daughter had ever spent any time with a white person. She was quite fascinated at the age of 4 when she met me and my granddaughter who was 3 at the time.

You can imagine that first meeting and the time they spent in our home was a little tense for the adults. The kids got along great.

I would have to say the rest of the world is more agreeable with an interracial relationship that happens outside of their own families.. based on the fact that hey have strong prejudices about interracial relationships.. A family would seem more concerned because they are directly related to you and want "their" best for you.. it will just take time to realize that your happiness is what matters most

i have run across it on occasion, it has affected a job of mine before and also an apartment of course they would never admit to that being the problem but i know different. speaking of i received a very racists picture text from a number i wasnt familiar with last night and when i went to reply to it, it messed up my phone and i had to call to get the number blocked and my phone fixed. i felt very threatened by this and im still wondering who could have sent it so i can go fck them up. racism may be hiding beneath the surface but it is still very much there and festering mad so even though its not shown as much dont think its not there. See, that's what my parents keep telling me... they are afraid my relationship is going to affect career/where I can and cannot live. I say I don't want those people in my life regardless of who I date or marry. I know I can't run away from racism, but I can stand up to it right?

hell yes u can stand up for it . stand up to the racists bigots and give them hell when the try to bring you down. when i was asked to leave my apartment i had just moved into a week earlier because" they didnt allow unmarried couples to live together" and the old white lady was callin me a tramp, i gave my bf a big wet sloppy kiss right in front of her!!!! STICK IT TO THE MAN and have fun while ur doin it.
