I am new to the group but not to interracial relationships. I am a WF and my boyfriend of 3 and 1/2 years is a BM and we have an almost 2 year old and i have a 7 1/2 year old boy from another relationship. We moved to a small southern town in Mississippi and we are from Tenneesse. In my hometown I was able to go out and not care what people thought when they saw us or have to worry about someone saying something when he and my oldest son was out together without me. But here its like i dont see many interracial relatioships and when we are out together I can feel the eyes on my neck the whole time we are out in the store. I love him and we are getting married within the next year. He i a great man, father and person. He works while I stay home with the boys and go to school to get my degree in business admin. My family wasnt too happy about us being together but after they saw how he was to me and my oldest son, they saw him for a great man and nothing else. I cant see myself with anyone else, much less with a WM(no offense). We have been through alot but we are still together and we have a family no matter what anyone else thinks or says. my oldest son has not made any thing like a comment about his baby brother looking different to him and I taught him from am early age that there is no color, just people and that if he remembers that than he will go far in this world no matter what people say about him. He see my boyfriend as his dad, not step dad. I dont understand why people today still have the problem with people that are in a interracial relationship. You cant help who you fall inlove with and u are not suppose to. I still can remember what my dad and my grandpa said when they firt found out but they are fine with him and have a great relationship with him and have made him apart of the family. But his mother is another story. She wont even give me the time of day. she wont talk to me when we are around, she lives in east TN, where he is from, but when we visti or see each other for birthdays or holidays its like i am nothing. She wont have nothing to do with my son, my youngest, and he is about to be 2 and she has seen him 8 times and held him only when he was born and at my oldests sons birthday one year. at christmas, she wont sit near us but in another room and wont spend any time with him. but she does anything and everything for her granddaughter and i know she would bc she lives with her but when you hear that she is justtwo towns over visiting some friends and wont even call to see if she can stop by or if we can meet her for lunch or something, i hate it. My family always makes time for my boys and even when my mom was 4 hours away from us before we moved, she would always spend as much time as she could with them when she was in town. Now that we all live together, she gets to see them everyday and she loves it. But i dont understand why his mom acts the way she does and he thinks its bc we are not married. Well getting married is nothing but a piece of paper. I dont know what to do about her and today our son used the potty for the first time and he texted her and she hasnt said anything back about it and i am just ready to tell her what i think about her but he keeps stopping me from telling her to spend time with her grandson or stay out of his life and stop hurting him and us. she is about to lose her son and grandson and future kids we have.
