Hi everyone. This is my first post on here and am a little unsure of how this works. So I'm just going to go for it, I have been struggling with insomnia for almost 2 years now. Have been on ambien to help cope with it. I have tried everything: yoga, meditation, cognitive behavioral therapy, acupuncture, lavender oil, sleep stories/music, sleep routine, EVERYTHING. I'm starting to feel helpless as I can't calm down at night and peacefully fall asleep on my own. I am 23 years old and fear that a long time down the road, when I eventually get pregnant, that I'll be suffering and can't take my prescription meds for sleep. I just feel so hopeless when it comes to sleeping on my own. I've tried everything... any other suggestions, I guess?? Input? Advice?

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
Are you still using them? Did you learn how to tune out the negative sleep thoughts like feeling "helpless", and "can't calm down". These are irrational fears that you can in fact control, and your CBT tools will help you do that.
My suggestion would be to review your CBT methods, particularly cognitive restructuring. I can tell you from experience you've got to use these methods for them to work. And keep on using them, especially with these pesky negative thoughts. Either you control them or they will control you.
There's many, many things you can do to make this better that do not involve drugs. Be confident and reject the pessimism.
