Insomnia is a symptom, rather than a disease, and is characterized by inadequate quantity or quality of sleep. People with insomnia complain of difficulty falling or staying asleep, which results in significant impairment of daytime functioning. Insomnia is categorized as transient (shorter than one week), short-term (one to three weeks) or chronic (longer than three...
Does anyone has any question for my method or you think I am an imposter ?
My own reason for joining this board is to help people out of this dreadful condition.
I'm glad you found a solution that's worked for you. Was there anything more to it than what you wrote?
Do you have questions for me ?
My method speaking for me cuts to the chase - trains your brain to stop thinking as soon as you lie down, hard at first, I give it minimal thing to do, like listen to myself breathing. You do it and soon it becomes automatic. The goal is STOP THINKING. The gap between when you lie down and when you got to sleep gets narrower and narrower. Soon it becomes automatic. With fingers crossed it has worked for me for over 2 months and I hope to keep using it for my whole life. God's grace.
I do watch and listen to by breath, I know this is helpful for me, as long as I don't think.
I appreciate that you shared :-)
This method of thinking about nothing is well known. It has been promoted around a lot by Ekhart Tolle, a modern philosopher..which I admire a lot.
I do too try to implement this technique..no success so far as I have a lot of stressful triggers that are around me all the time.
I think if in general, the person is in good and stress less situation, this method is well worth trying.
Several years ago, my friend recommended me one of his book "The Earth". I started to read...and did not really find it useful for me, so I forgot about him. I just was not mentally ready to absorb, understand and to follow his ideas then.
Recently I accidentally discovered some of his audio books( in Russian)...and I literally fall in love with this author. He talks a lot about the way we think and how to take our attention from our thoughts. In the other words, he teaches to "think about nothing". He explains how to distance and disconnect from the flow of thoughts in our minds.
We all have issues that feed to insomnia. And, it does not matter what the nature of the problem is. What is matter, is that we can not stop thinking...we can not stop worrying, we can not shut our minds off.
Guys, I do recommend to everyone on this board to get to know Ekhart Tolle. He wrote many books, not every book is useful for everyone. You might will need to go through several books until you find what is easy to understand and implement for you. What I was listening was "Lectures"...a concise, brief, sharply written overview of his basic ideas. I can not find it in English. However, here is another link from you tube.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOo-LqTApGs
Some of you know what a nightmare I am going through for years..but, despite all, I started to implement his idea of relaxation. I do it rarely and inconsistently due to my circumstances. So, my sleep is almost the some with some minor improvements. But, I am sure if you really practice his techniques and accept his philosophy, you will get better.
I wish you all the beast!
