Insomnia is a symptom, rather than a disease, and is characterized by inadequate quantity or quality of sleep. In my experience Rehab facilities tend to be more long term...like 30, 60, 90 days.
I would also talk to your psychiatrist about your use of Ambien....s/he could likely recommend a good facility for you.
Wishing you all the best as you go through this process...please keep us posted!
Based on my experiences with both of these drugs, I would recommend that you ask your doctor if you can try amitriptyline (assuming it does not conflict with any other medication that you may be taking). Amitriptyline is an old antidepressant that is no longer used for that purpose, but it is effective as a sleep aid for many people in very low doses (1/10 the level used as an antidepressant). It is also known to reduce nerve pain for many as it has for me. Another advantage, it is very cheap; the lowest dose pill is 10mg and it can be bought at Walmart for $10 cash for a 90 day supply (as can the next step up; 25 mg). It is also non-addictive at these low levels and can be stopped immediately if it does not work for you.
IMO, well worth a try.
