Insomnia Support Group
Insomnia is a symptom, rather than a disease, and is characterized by inadequate quantity or quality of sleep. People with insomnia complain of difficulty falling or staying asleep, which results in significant impairment of daytime functioning. Insomnia is categorized as transient (shorter than one week), short-term (one to three weeks) or chronic (longer than three...
I was soooo low on magnesium, I had the dreaded calcification of my skin. taking magnesium supplements didnt help much until i came across a bottle that had 6 forms of magnesium and 3 forms of calcium with vitamin D and K.
yes, you need to add a little calcium,v D/K to help absorb and use the magnesium or you'll be like me.
at one time i was depleted of vitamin D because of prolonged pure magnesium intake. ahhh, then you'll feel totally fatigued.
About Vitamin D and K......I take that in the daytime and take the Milk of Magnesium at night.
I found an old 1942 ad promoting Milk of Magnesium for SLEEP!
After awhile the docs told me to go home. So I started doing my own research and a lot of trial and error later, I found out what I was low on.
In my experience, taking one or two vitamins seems to eventually deplete another. So, when you find out which one you need, take the whole spectrum.
The cool thing is... There really are just a few things that cause fatigue and insomnia, so it's won't be long until you find out as long as you know what to try.
Vitamin b-complex is notorious. Take a good amount for a few days. If it doesn't do anything. You're not in need of it.
Magnesium(like the op said)
Vitamin d/k and potassium - low on these and I just feel like I'm going to fall over. At one time I required double the daily amount.
Serotonin, the anti-depressant and ant-hunger, happy, ant-fatigue super stuff. When I was low, I lay in bed with eyes closed for hours; sometimes until the sun came up. Take 100mg of 5htp and choline/inositol before bed time. If you're low, you're going to sleep real good.
GABA, the stuff that makes you calm and relax. When I was low, I could not stand still. I was moving all over, arms, head, legs! And I was scared of everything. Not to mention.... No sleep! Take 500mg of glutamin with vitamin b-complex. I remember, within 15 minutes, I felt normal again. Don't take pure GABA.
The trickiest one was the ribose! One day, I stood up and my legs collapsed and I could no longer feel my legs. It took a good 15 minutes for it to come back. Eventually I found I was depleted in ribose. The key role in ribose is ATP. Without ATP, you have no energy and without energy, you cannot sleep.
Then there was that breathing problem, racing heart and vomiting sensation and memory problem. It was caused by low levels of acetylcholine. Choline+acetyl-l-carnitine fixed that problem.
Lol, the list goes on and on until, I found how to stabilize the depletion!
I was waaaaay low on l-lysine! People say, yea it's for herpes but they're missing the big point! It's the main amino acid. It's required for everything in your body to function. Your system will continue to deplete everything I mentioned above until it has enough lysine. At least for me anyway.
Oh yea, I forgot tyrosine. That's another fatigue, can't sleep pill. If you want to try this one... No ore than 200mg in the morning. Believe me, you'll be wired but if you're low on it, you'll also sleep real good when the energy dies down.
All the stuff I listed are natural supplements. Although, you still have to follow the instructions.
