Insomnia Support Group
Insomnia is a symptom, rather than a disease, and is characterized by inadequate quantity or quality of sleep. People with insomnia complain of difficulty falling or staying asleep, which results in significant impairment of daytime functioning. Insomnia is categorized as transient (shorter than one week), short-term (one to three weeks) or chronic (longer than three...
I hope this underscores how important it is for you to do something positive and proactive to manage your insomnia. And get on with your life.
If your sleeping problems have a medical basis, get yourself examined and get it treated. There are effective treatments for insomnia caused by medical issues.
If not, then look at the nonmedical roots and treat those. Again, I suggest checking out CBT if you haven't already done so.
Simply put, there are effective ways to help yourself sleep and overcome insomnia. It's up to you to do it. Stay focused on resolving those root causes, and it will get better.
But also be realistic. You will never again sleep like a baby. None of us will. As we age our bodies change. It's normal for sleep to become lighter and more fragmented as we get older. This is not a defect, that's just the way it is. Our reality is constantly changing and all any of us can do is try to cope and adjust the best we can.
Keep plugging away. Treat those root causes. Keep asking questions, use people on this forum and wherever else you can find them for support. I wish you well.
I cant wait to manage my insomnia so I can indeed get on with my life. I was so exhausted I finally got some good sleep last night. I'm going to stay hopeful and tackle the issue.
Chuckle for you. I purposely stayed up till close to midnight (I can fall asleep, I don't stay asleep) took a relaxer and decided it would be great to maybe sleep till 4 or 5. No way, our dog thought it would be great to sleep between the two of us, he wasn't moving. It was his spot. Ok, maybe tonight. I never knew a 20 lb terrier was so darn big!
We had a dog for 14 years and I remember how many times she would bark at any given hour in the night but we loved her and miss her. She was worth the sleep disturbance.

That's really cool that you have a flexibility at work. I'm in the U.S. and I do believe that once you've worked for the government for at least a few months you do have a pretty stable position. I actually used to have a government job while I was in college working for the parks and rec. dept. Maybe it's time to look into that again. Thanks.
Yesterday I got 4 hours, the day before 3 hours. I am so exhausted.
I get really tired around 6pm and want to take a nap so bad at times, sometimes I do take a nap but then I can't get to sleep at night. If I don't take a nap then I may not get to sleep either. Can't win!
