Avoid caffeine from about mid-day on. Be sure to get some exercise most every day if you can.
And when you can't sleep, it's OK to get up and out of bed. Just do something relaxing until you feel drowsy, then try it again. And be confident your mind-body's requirement for sleep is in fact stronger than your insomnia, and you will absolutely get what you need.
