It has happened, yes, though not too often, luckily. And yes, I have to wait for the next night too, which sucks.
The thing about my naps is that I've given up trying a long time ago. Maybe if I tried more often I would sometimes succeed, who knows. I guess I'm just too tense, I like to know I have the whole night ahead of me when I go to sleep.
Now, there are others, insomnia2017, unable to nap over the day. One silver lining about it is that you generally sleep better over the night, as you know it's basically how sleep restriction therapy works.
Yes, it scares me too that it might get complicated if I lose the ability to sleep over the night as well, but it has worked all my life so... here's to hoping no fatal insomnias occur. Those are extremely rare.

Yeah, took me forever to find a couple of examples of people with this problem. It's really debilitating sometimes.
What surprises me about it is the fact that it seems so rare, when I know it can't be. I mean, since even normal sleepers often find it hard to sleep during the day, there are bound to be plenty if insomniacs who find it impossible. Really wish I could make up for lost sleep...
