That's not forgiveness, that's sticking your head in the sand. True, some people think that's what forgiveness means, but they are in error.
All it means is *you're* not going to punish them. They still need to deal with the natural consequences for both spouses. They still need to address the issues that brought them to that place.
Real forgiveness does not lead to pretending it didn't happen and everything is great. Real forgiveness frees both spouses to deal with the consequences, address the issues, and heal.
