Mine had not been off in decades and I could not get it off. I had my friend cut it off with wire cutters. I sold it for scrap.

I'm shocked that so many people just gave up their rings. It's so symbolic to me.

Agree with cole50. My cheating wife took hers off three month ago, told my some story about an alergic reaction to the dishwashing soap. Has not put it back on since. She actually took it off because she was arranging a meet with a man she found on an online sex site and she thinks she is getting one over on me and that I don't know what is going on.

She now refuses to put it back on because she is 'angry' with me. No specifics, she refuses to talk, because she is 'angry'. My grown daughter told me take my ring off and divorce her mother immediately. I told her that I will not take it off until the judge grants the divorce.

For me it was a symbol of our love and commitment to each other. When she had her A all that was out the window. Until I forgive her and accept this I refuse to wear one. It hurts her to see me without but she caused this. Her hurt is nothing compared to what I am feeling. If and when I am ready we have agrees to buy me a new one.

I stopped wearing mine for a few days but since we are working really hard to fix our marriage I started to wear it again. I hesitate everytime I go to put them on in the morning, and sometimes when I look at them it hurts.

You know, my husband and I never had wedding rings. We had exchanged engraved pinky rings months before we got engaged, and never felt the need for rings.

A couple of years later, his parents gave us matching bands for Christmas. We thought it was kind of funny, because it's not like we couldn't afford a wedding set if we wanted one. Come to find out, I travel a LOT for work, and his Mom is very traditional and thought it would be best if I had a ring on. We both laughed, but we started wearing the bands. That was probably 10 years ago.

After I found out about his A, I took the band off. It wasn't from him, and suddenly the irony of my wearing a ring to "fend off" other men while I traveled (while he had the OW sleeping in my bed) was just too much for me.

He still wears his. We're in MC, and we're making progress. I still wear my engraved pinky ring.

I never took mine off. I wanted my H to see it and remember that we were married and I was continuing to honor my vows. Over time, I lost a lot of weight and around 2 years post d day, i had to stop wearing it because it was falling off my hand. Even though I still want to lose more weight, I recently had them sized down (2 1/2 sizes) and it is back safely on my hand. My H and I are doing well and remembering our early years is important to me. Yes, we have lost a lot becasue of the A , and we have begun a new chapter in our marriage, but I dont want new rings. I dont mind adding another band, but it will be there to enhance what I already have, not to replace it.
