Infidelity Support Group
Any relationship in which one partner engages willfully in sexual relations with another outside of the partnership is considered to have experienced infidelity. This breach of trust is often traumatizing for the faithful partner as well as the relationship, and support is often needed to heal emotionally and to decide whether or not the relationship should continue after...
but my glimmer of hope is that she might think I have some sort of worth. that I have some sort of value that she doesn't want to abandon.
that whatever her emotional issues are, that talking about them will help heal
Ummm....why exactly? I'd change the locks and have his stuff outside in WalMart bags on the lawn.
Is it his house? Then you should move. If he doesn't call you, and you suspect he's with the OW, why do you want him to come home?
Here's a different perspective. Years ago, I was the OW - only I was smart enough to know that most CS issues have nothing to do the actual other person they are seeing. I told the men I dated who were married that the minute their wives found out about me, I was gone. I certainly wasn't the answer to their problems and I wasn't looking to move them in when their wives threw them out, which they eventually would - and should. I cut them no slack about needing to own up to their own issues and get themselves some help so they could stop repeating the pattern (and it was always a pattern).
Your significant other has a serious issue with dealing maturely with his emotional challenges. That is not something he will easily overcome - regardless of how pretty the OW is, or how nice you are to him, etc. He needs to get help for himself, and you need to focus on your life and your future and not obsessing over the OW.
We've all seen celebrities cheat on the most incredibly beautiful women. It's not about beauty. Don't ever allow yourself to feel "less than" someone who would have an affair with a married man. That woman can't hold a candle to a woman of true inner beauty and integrity.
I so hope you can heal to a point that you can see that his cheating was not about some deficit in you.
