This breach of trust is often traumatizing for the faithful partner as well as the relationship, and support is often needed to heal emotionally and to decide whether or not the relationship should continue after...

Warning... Long post. So my wife wanted to use my computer tonight in the spare bedroom to work on an online class she has been taking, which was fine (she has her own laptop, but refuses to use it now). I was getting tired from my nightly cocktail of Luvox and Benadryl, so I asked how long she would be so I knew whether to wait up or not. I offered to lay down in the spare bedroom with her, and she said no, that she would only be a few minutes. Ok says I, and off to bed I go.
Over an hour later, still no sign of her, so I got up to see what was going on, and whether I should just go to sleep or not. I walk into the spare bedroom, and she is on the phone with her mom. My mind immediately goes back to the fact that she used to go in our bedroom when her OM would call, and when I would ask who she was talking to, she would say she was on the phone with her mom. Now I feel like total and complete shit, and in fact, a stupid fucking fool for walking in on her talking with her internet boyfriend and being dumb enough to think she would go hide in the bedroom to talk with her mom.
Then I start thinking about all the other shit this affair has ruined... Once in a lifetime things that I have gotten to experience that I can't even think about now without wanting to cry. So we go to bed and I start talking about it with her, and she gets this "I'm hurt" attitude and says that she is getting up for a while.
Someone PLEASE remind me why the hell I am going through this?
I can't stomach going to work anymore after building a successful career because she involved some of my employees in her affair with a fucking business partner.
I can't watch TV for fear that a TV show will involve either cheating, Las Vegas, or France (or anything french, or a language that sounds like french).
I've gotten to experience incredible things while travelling that I feel nothing but guilt and regret for because while I was away on business she was busy cheating on me.
30-50% of the time I watch her take off her shirt, all I can think about is her doing it for this asshole on the webcam.
I try not to say anything to her in German anymore because all I can think of is her OM calling her his "Kleine Schlampe" (translates to "little slut" for anyone curious).
Half the time I get done making love, I spend the next hour trying to talk myself out of obsessing myself into a deep depression.
I can't look AT her purse without obsessing because I found condoms in it twice, which we don't use. The first time she claimed she bought them for a friend who is promiscuous (she is...), and the second time she said it was when she was considering leaving me and it was a symbol of independence. She went on to say that if she had planned on using them with her OM, she would have bought bigger ones. Makes me feel fucking great :(
I have anxiety attacks looking at phone bills or credit card statements because I am always waiting to find that phone call or charge to a hotel.
She lied to me about aspects of the affair after it was over.
I can't go to google images without having an anxiety attack because I'm afraid her OM posted pictures of her tits.
If I hear a song on the radio that I heard while her and I were in Las Vegas (that is where she and OM were supposed to meet f2f) I want to vomit.
I obsess about every pair of panties and bra she owns, because I don't know if he saw them or not, or if she bought them to look good for him.
I can't walk into my own basement, because she had he desk, webcam, etc. setup down there when I found the evidence of the affair.
I freak out whenever she gets a text message.
In other words, there is not a single place in my life anymore I feel safe... Not at work, not at home, and sometimes not even in her arms. Please, someone please, tell me why I am putting myself through this. Sometimes I am not sure if ANYONE is worth all of this :(

Please try to take some of your power back. When you get triggered, remember to breath, and tell yourself..the other side of this will be brighter.
I don't know your wife, or your relationship, do I think anyone is worth the pain of this...I don't know...all I do know is I'm worth living threw this pain, and because I have, and because I expect nothing less of him, I am a better person for it. You need to make this about you, healing you. A Counclor would be a very good idea. Plus it does sound like depression, and luvox works great, just give it sometime. It takes about 6 weeks before its takes effect. Let your dr know your feelings...and you are safe..so please, stay safe
This is progress....not perfection
JustTired - Thanks for the words of encouragement. I am really beginning to feel my marriage is terminally damaged. Had she just listened to me and stopped lying the day I found out about the affair, and told her that was the only way to save our marriage, things might be a bit different. Now I am not so sure. Off to my journal again...
I used to call it the wrecking ball that went thru my life. Now you know how far reaching this goes. And it sucks.
Are you in counseling? Consider trying that.
Man, I remember the anxiety attacks, all of that. Your post really takes me back. For me? I couldn't take it any more and left after a few months. Just could not live like that.
Reminding you that you are staying because you love her and believe that you can get past this...it can be done. Others have, but it does take time.
Sending support...L~
(For me, I bought myself an ipod, and started working out, blasting music, which was like medicine to me) Sweating while running, and lifting made me feel stronger and stronger, and the music was so KEY!.....STILL IS, as I work out everyday just about now!!!!!!!
If you arent getting any sleep, you will never be able to do any of this, though. You need to force food into yourself, little bits at a time, and use meds. to get as much sleep as you can!
May you find peace soon.............
Mauszer,I guess if you chose to stay be prepared for alot of days like this, trying hard to understand the reason why someone would take a knife and thrust it in your chest and life and everday experiences seem to take the knife and thrust it again and again.I mean there is always hope that things will get better and perhaps just taking life one second at a time will help you to cope. The reality is that there will always be triggers now because of what happened but even with those just take them as they come and deal with every situation as it pops up.Unfortunately, cheaters very rarely are willing to talk about the pain you are feeling-mostly they ,even when you go to therapy with them ,feel somewhat exxonerated when the therapist says that you too are at fault and somehow it is the cheater that ends up with all of the sympathy. And when you broach the subject of the pain that you are feeling, alot respond by getting annoyed because"There you go bringing that up again:why can't you just get over it and move on?" This is the reality.
Everyone else, I appreciate the words of encouragement. Honestly, I just don't know if I can handle the depression, hurt, and anger this has caused. I feel like I have lost the thing in my life that I wanted most, and even if we stay together, I will never have that original thing back. I don't know if I am willing to accept that for the rest of my life...
The feelings of permanance have some days depressed me to the point where I have been suicidal... not just a little suicidal, but to the point I was laying in bed holding a .45 calibre bullet wondering what it would feel like. This has been the most devastating trauma I have ever experienced, and sometimes I just don't know how to be OK anymore. I was just about to delete this paragraph, but honestly, I am tired of hiding how hurt I really am over all of this. There have been many days when I have just wanted to die, because I feel like I will never be happy again... never done with the hurt... will never have my gentle loving wife or marriage back.

I know I am having an exaggerated reaction to some aspects of it due to PTSD, but just because I understand why it hurts so much doesn't make it hurt any less.

Mauszer, please listen..You are stronger than you think. This shit can make you stronger than you ever thought possible. Learn from it, and it will not destroy you.
