There is a great book on sex addition, "Out of the Shadows".
I've met several people who have a sex addiction and spouses of people with sex addiction. Dealing with it is no different than an addiction to alcolhol or drugs.
Research the word " sociopath" . You will get many answers to your questions.
Sociopaths are not all serial killers and criminals. There is a spectrum . The main idea is that their emotions are not real. They fake them. It is a disorder.
They love you the best way they know how - poorly. Yet they make you feel special and you fall for them head over heels.
Sexual addiction is a result of some psychological problems leading to compulsive behavior - sexual activity. Just like drug addicts, these people have shame, remorse, internal turmoil, dealing with trauma and they are unable to stop. They do not NEED to get involved on a relationship. They can get sex in different ways and without necessarily hurting the other person. Even paying for a hooker is better in my book than deceiving a person.
Sociopaths are not after just sex. They seek conquest, thrill, reief of boredom, they want to be worshiped, to feel important. Sex is only a small part of that. To a sociopath a person is a challenge, an interest. To win them and to impress them, they study their victims, their values, their likes, their experiences and then based on that they modify their behavior to completely have this person hooked on them.
Then they get bored. Sociopaths can not feel remorse. Most behave decently out of fear of being caught ( this is why they don't kill or steal) or to look good in the eyes of other people ( it helps with career and of course, it helps in the social circle to get more women ( men).
This is the key difference in my opinion. Sex addicts are usually very private and are tortured inside my their addiction. Sociopaths premeditate and have no regrets. They will step over you, their family, your kids , your tears and feel absolutely nothing except for aggravation, because your tears are annoying to them. Nothing more nothing less.
It seemed to me like he wanted a relationship but at the same time he's obsessed with other women. I've caught him many times with a certain look on his face whenever he sees women that attracts him.
He's lucky that he was born with good looks. But he's too proud of it. I've caught him with smirks along with sinister looks when he knows that women are desiring him. Maybe he does have signs of a sociopath. Are they unable to change their behavior and unable to love?
It is a very sad, devastating even, disease. There is no cure.
Your guy sounds exactly like a sociopath.
