How about supervised visits?
Sounds like mom is trying to start some trouble... Document, document, document... I'd also get kinda of sneaky... Take "family" photos while everyone's sitting around the table eating breakfast lunch and dinner - kind of thing... Get creative while CYA!!!
Doesnt mean he agrees or supports it. I agree that it's hard - I hate it when the person I'm with won't defend me in those situations - but I've seen it too often to be surprised these days.
Coping, I think you're right. He doesn't want to deal with the conflict.
This all started about a year ago when I started shipping her food ... well candy and high calorie foods (she's very underweight, 12 years and 70ish lbs) Her mom keeps her on a vegan diet, but the little girl likes to eat meat and eggs.
When she came for her visit last summer I was scared for her life because she was so thin, so I took her to the doctor who was also very worried about her. In short she gained 10 very needed lbs last summer. Since my husband's little girl went back to her mother last summer, her mom has made our life hell.
She has threatened to have my husband deported (he has a green card). She always threatens to take us to court (I don't know for what). I've heard her tell the little girl, "you're a little liar, just like your dad." And the mother always tells her, "you are always creating problems." Honestly, I don't think the woman likes the child. I think she mentally abuses her to try and hurt my husband.
Any thoughts?
Report the mental abuse as well... Your H, citizen or not, has rights, so USE THEM... You guys need to see a family law attorney. Quickly! What I wouldn't do, is stop visitations... Since you guys already see so little of her, due to distance, it's important that she know her dad loves her. Stopping the visitations may actually be playing into mom's hands....
I wish you guys luck... This is a tricky situation.
