We dont have to let this experience define us. I wrote this and read this every day! And it helps SO much!!!
'Think about it this way: Those who use others to validate themselves, have No self-esteem.
Those who seek to hurt you, are themselves HURTING.
Those who seek to harm the people who love them most, dont and CANT possibly love themselves -- let alone you.
To expect love from people like this is useless. They are incapable of loving anyone, because they DONT love themselves.
Those who so easily disrespect us, are really masking their disrespect for themselves. So, in turn, it is WRONG for us to expect them to respect us. They're incapable of respecting us or ANYONE else for that matter!
To believe otherwise is a form of self-torture, and will only result in the CONTINUATION of your misery. '
When you think about what youre going through in those terms, you should feel better about yourself, and your emotional maturity. Then, you can begin to heal yourself. Dont expect that emotionally immature person to help you through this. They are not going to one day, wake up and "come around.'' If they are responsible for the demolition of your relationship, it is unwise to continue with high expectations for this person.
Instead, remember to breathe, feel, grieve, breathe again and push your way through it. And while digging yourself out of that shit hole, cast aside those feelings of self-doubt and questions about self-worth. Because the problems that led you to this road were never yours to begin with. They were simply heaped on you by someone who refuses to face their own shortcomings in life, and deal with them honestly. So step aside, and keep moving -- FORWARD!
There IS life on the other side of this nightmare. And, yes, it IS what YOU make it. You'll be SURPRISED at how good it can be!!!

Thank you for writing this. You just described my ex. I'm out now and my life is so much better. It's almost scary how good my life is becoming.

Everything you wrote is so true. My friend recently sent me a quote... "How people treat you is their karma; how you react to it is yours." What he did will not define me. Thanks for sharing this.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
