I found the emotions come in very distinct waves. Longer positive periods of reconnection with my wife were followed with shorter negative periods of anger, disgust and sorrow. Then a longer upbeat period would follow. It is important to identify the triggers.
The key is to witness shorter negative periods and longer positive periods.
