When can you have sex after IVF BFP?

Hey Ladies!

I need your help! What did your RE tell you regarding when you can have sex again after a BFP? I know my RE said something about it after the transfer....but it wasn't clear whether he meant no for that night, that week or what. and now that we were blessed with a BFP (YAY!) I haven't heard any other instructions. Its not really something i want to ask the nurse taking my blood....and i dont want to call just to ask this question! lol! So please- help me out!:)

My RE says that I could resume all sexual activity 48 hours after my transfer. He said the research has not shown sex to harm anything. So we did and still got a BFP. We have kept up our sex life since the beginning and are now 21 weeks.
I do know if you have a history of miscarriages they would tell you to wait past 12 weeks, but if you have no reason to believe you're high risk its totally safe.

congrats! Both my RE and OB said sex was ok after hearing the heartbeat. We waited a little longer because of the progesterone supositories (they were gross) and because DH was nervous:)

We were told 12 weeks, but we waited 13... just because we were so nervous. Also I was so tired my first 10 weeks that I was falling asleep before DH even got home from work. A wife who falls asleep at 7:00 every night is clearly not in the mood... Hahahaha!

Congrats on your BFP! We haven't gotten that far yet, but our RE says it is okay to continue your routine (including sex) as long as you are comfortable. If you have a history of MC, it may be different and the other ladies are right...all REs have different "rules."

I wouldn't hesitate to ask your RE or the nurse about it. I call my nurse all the time to ask her questions and she has heard them all before, I'm sure.
