As many of you know I got another BFN this week. I'll quickly tell my story as I'm not sure where to go next and would like some advice.
We started TTC in July 2006. I got pregnant almost immediately but lost the baby after 6 weeks. Then we started trying again for a year before I went to my doctor with my concerns (cuz she told me to wait a year). Then I took all the blood tests and the HSG - everything was fine. DH had an SA that showed poor morphology. My obgyn suggested IUI and my RE. I did my first IUI in April with Chlomid and ovidrel. The chlomid did not agree with me...i bled through the entire cycle and had a thin uterine lining but ended up with a BFP. The very next day after I got my BFP results AF came and it ended up being a chemical pg. I skipped a cycle then did 2 IUIs with Femara and Ovidrel - better lining but 2 BFNs. This last cycle I did Follistim and ovidrel - BFN.
So what next? My RE suggested before my 4th IUI that if it didn't work that I should do a LAP and maybe move on to IVF. I just feel like we found the problem with DHs morphology (trust me I'm not trying to blame him I actually wish it was with me cuz he's not dealing with this well). I just question a lap because DHs counts post wash haven't been great (3rd IUI was 23 mill 4th was 15 mill). I just feel like I've been through so much already the last thing I want to do is a lap. Then the thought of IVF terrifies me because we would have no coverage and it's so expensive. I know many of you have been through it and I don't know if I could handle a BFN after everything that IVF involves.
I'm skipping all meds this cycle. I really need a break from it. But it's also driving me crazy that I'm not doing anything to attain a BFP this month.
I'm sorry this has gotten so long. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Oh you poor thing...you sound so much like me to be truthful. I will start by saying I am blessed with one child but infertility is infertility...it still hurts regardless when you want another so badly. We have been actively trying since 8/2006 - I went to my OBG in 1/2007 & with a RE in 5/2007. We have done 8 rounds of IUI with various drugs. Clomid a few time, Ovidrel everytime, my husbands motility is ok but for what ever reason he produces a huge amt. of semin so it tend to be diluted which equates to lower counts but when they do the sperm wash his #'s come out ok. I did have a Lap in Feb followed by one more insem, in April. When it didnt' work, I lost it and stopped seeing my doctor as I just couldn't take one more disappointment - you just need the mental break sometimes and I felt my sadness was impeding on my daily life. I am now regreting the months I have tried this one our own again with not luck. If you want a child more then anything, do whatever it takes...money can be paid back. Just DO IT! I have the fact that I am 40 against me too...I worry about so many other things. If I was younger I don't think I would have given that aspect a second thought and if fact I am seriously considering it right now. Best of luck! I wish you nothing but the best in what ever you decide to do. :)

We are very much in the same boat. I will be doing my third IUI with femara and ovidrel next week and we are undecided after that. I want to ask him if follitism is worth trying since the meds are so expensive or if IVF is the only way. I think with the help of my family I will be able to come up with the money. Talk with your family and ask for help...you will be surprised who will want to reach out and help you. Good luck with your decision making, and have some wine this month and relax. no planning, no waiting...just enjoy a month together with your DH and try and forget about everything...Get a room in cincy and go to the Bengals game. That's what we want to do to get our minds off of things. Just try and make it about you two.
