I was diagnosed with PCOS in late December 06. My OBGYN had me start metformin in late January. I had to wait until after my first cycle after being diagnosed. In March I got pregnant! After on ly being on metformin for two months I did get pregnant. Unfortunately, I did miscarry. So yes...with proper treatment you can get pregnant if you have PCOS. You really need to talk to your doctor about possible treatments. My only symptom of PCOS is the irregular cycle. It can work. See your doctor! God Bless!
I also have PCOS. Please don't give up on your dream of being a Mom. I also would recommend seeing an RE. Reproductive Endocrinologists are very knowledgeable about PCOS. Mine put me on Metformin about 4 months ago and I am starting to ovulate now and have sort of regular periods. I am also on a low carb and low sugar diet.
Diet is really important! For women with PCOS, we have blood / glucose issues and consuming a lot of simple sugars and processed foods can make our polycystic ovaries really act up. You can make little changes like eating whole wheat pasta and bread, and eating lots of veggies and healthy foods.
You are not alone and you need not give up hope. Personally I know of several women who have PCOS and have given birth to perfectly healthy little miracles.
I know it's tough not to feel hopeless sometimes, but don't give up!
What symptoms do you have? I have the belly fat, hair growth, acne, oily skin and irregular periods. Metformin can help with weight issues and it works even better if you do some exercise every day.
Good luck. I am here if you ever want to talk.
