Useless ob/gyn

It turns out that my ob/gyn was no help to me, I wrote a post a few weeks ago saying that my gynecologist was having me get blood work done to check my progesterone levels. It turns out that in reality she never really cared to help me get my progesterone levels where they should be, she was showing actions like she was being lazy about it & just didn't care to help me. Because she said there was nothing more she could do for me, & all she did was tell me to take a 3 month break from Femara & then when it was time to get back on Femara again, I got back on it & then had blood work done 1 month & then blood work done the next month to see where my progesterone levels were. The first blood work results were low & then the second blood work results were even lower, that to me seems really weird that the numbers would drop like that. Anyway after the second blood work was done just like that she suddenly decided she couldn't help me anymore, & said I should go see a fertility specialist. She didn't even want to try upping the Femara to see if maybe a higher dose would help more, she just completely gave up she really didn't do much of anything for me, I really had high hopes for her when I first met her. Unfortunately some doctor's can make you think that they care about helping you, & then it turns out that they were of no help. She said that she cares & wants me to get pregnant & that she feels bad for me, & I'm like really well if she truely cared & wants me to get pregnant then she should have tried to do more to help me get pregnant. So I really don't believe any of that from her she was just being lazy about it & didn't want to help me. So now because of all that I'm switching to a different ob/gyn, so far I have had women gynecologist's but now I'll be seeing a man gynecologist. So hopefully that will make a difference & his office according to his website offers all kinds of fertility treatments & what not, so I'm hoping & praying for the best from this man gynecologist. Sorry that your time was wasted. At this time I would see a RE. Your obgyn can only help you to a point . For the best treatment you should see a doc the specializes in IF. Best of luck to you.

Sweetpea, sorry for your time wasted with that ob/gyn. I agree with Mikalyn and suggest that you see an RE. They are the ones that specialize in this and a regular ob is only gonna get you so far. Good luck with the male, I particularly have a preference to females because men tend to be a little rough and condescending. Either way good luck wishing you the best!

Sorry to hear about your experience. My OBGYN was useless as well. She kept insisting that I was ovulating, but just not getting pregnant for some reason. I saw an RE and found out that I was NOT ovulating (but even with meds am still not pregnant yet). I highly recommend seeing a fertility specialist (RE). An OBGYN just doesn't have enough training in fertility problems(even if they say they specialize in it like my OBGYN did).

So sorry sweetie, I am always amazed at the level of insensitivity some doctors have toward there patients. The medical field is so cold & sterile. How can they not realize that we are real people, with real feelings? Sorry for your time wasted. I hope your new OB-GYN, treats you well and helps you more then the last one did. I have had several OB-GYN's and Fertility Specialists and my current and favorite is a man. Good luck!

Mendolove, I agree some doctor's out there just don't care about their patients like they should, & they don't try everything that they possibly can as a ob/gyn. Sometimes they want to be lazy & give up so quickly when the first blood test comes back saying that the levels are lower then they should be. I know they should realize that we are real people with real feelings. Thanks I really hope & pray too that this new ob/gyn will help me a lot more then what the last one did, I hope that having a male ob/gyn will make a big difference. Do you have both a male ob/gyn & a male fertility specialist? Ususally fertility clinic's have only male doctor's. Have all of your ob/gyn doctor's been men? Thank you for encouraging me & hoping the best for me with this new male ob/gyn I'll be seeing.

Ok here is update on my OBJ adventure. I went to my old OBJ on Wend because I was do to blood test and other staff. I told here how her college was treating me and she actually told me that it was my fault. She said that clinic can't spend all their time on one person, that 3 m/c which I had before don't count because they were IVF related and that I should just stop waisting everyone time. I was in tears after I left her office. I told her strait that she don't understand me because she never lost a child. She just was so cruel and cold. So I had another appointment with a small clinic which just a few floors above this one. My new OBJ is from India, worked there for 10 years, moved to U.S. and graduated from University of Chicago. She agreed to see my every week, give me her cell phone number and email address and even give me a hug at the end of appointment. So I switch right way. The last thing I won't while I am pregnant of someone telling me how stupid I am and I waist her time. I strongly believe that some people shouldn't be doctors because they have no kidness in their hurts.

I have had 1 OB-GYN, a women, whom I loved, but she got cancer and had to stop practiicng and 2 fertility specialists, one female, who preformed my uterine surgery, she made me feel very uncomfortable, that may have had more to do with her condescending personality then her sex, but my current specialist is a man, he is awesome! He is so kind and relaxed, he actually inspires me to relax and he has never made me feel uncomfortable. This is just my personal opinion, but for some reason I am just more comfortable with male fertility DR. I feel they are less condescending. xo

Your ex doc sounds horrible. :( I just moved to a new state and had to get a new gyn doc and it happens to be a woman and with my first visit I was uncomfortable. I felt like I was interviewing for a job I was not qualified for. I told her my struggles with infertility and she suggested a specialist, but she made it clear my insurance wouldn't cover it and said it was very expensive. She never came out and said it, but implied that I couldn't afford it. So I came home and researched many things and called her office back telling her I could afford some things if we just talk out options. She blew me off and suggested a ovulation kit. Its like she didn't want to help at all. I finally convinced her to do some blood work, but after reading your story I think I'm just going to find a new doc. My previous doc was a man and I liked him much better.

I definitely agree with everyone that's suggested looking for an RE. Trust your gut/intuition and ASK A LOT OF QUESTIONS FEARLESSLY. Also, have an advocate with you if possible. My husband is my "advocate" and vice versa. I have:
-- an OB/Gyn plust a back-up Ob/Gyn that I've know for years in case I need a second opinion;
-- RE (reproductive endocrinologist)
-- family practice doc
-- my husband has an urologist and family practice doc
-- given all the personal care products I'm going to have to give up to boost fertility, I imagine I'll need a good dermatologist soon! Ha ha!

    My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
