I am 21 years old going through infertility issues. I have done all my testing. My blood work was normal but my ultrasound revealed a cyst on my ovary an a fibroid on my uterus. My doctor told me that I didn't have to worry about those. My hsg test on the other hand revealed a more serious problem. She told me i had a hydrosalphinx on my left tube with inflammation. A hydrosalphinx is blockage of the tubes with fluid build up. So now I have to have laparoscopy for them to get a better look at whats going on. My doctor says that they will most likely have to remove my Fallopian tubes in order for me to have a successful in vitro fertilization procedure because the fluid in my tubes could kill an embryo. I am so discouraged because I have to try to save up for the expensive cost of ivf. I am a military spouse an I have done my research and there are some military facility who offer this procedure for around $4000-$6000 which is still expensive but cheaper then my alternatives. AND I REALLY WANT A CHILD OF MY OWN SOMEDAY

I am so sorry that you are having to go through this, i know its just not fair and you are so young. I know its hard but try not to worry until the laparoscopy is done you never know they may be able to clear the tube and you could get pregnant on your own, but if they do have to remove the tube at the very least you are young, you have time to save the money for IVF and when you do have your baby you will be a young mum, I understand how expensive IVF is and i know there is nothing anyone can say to make it better just know that everyone on this site understands and i wish you the best, stay strong. The day will come when you are holding your baby and this will all have been worth it. xxx

I am so sorry for your news. You are right, you should not have to deal with this when you are only 21. No one wants to be in this club, but you will find lots of support here. Being a military wife is tough on its own...wishing you the best!

There is never a fair time to be infertile. It sucks no matter what your age. I'm so sorry you got such discouraging news. Try not to lose hope! You are young enough to still have lots of time to save up for the IVF, if that's what it comes down to. I know it's hard not to be impatient when you want it so badly, and especially being a military wife, when it seems like all the other girls your age have babies or are pregnant. I was there a couple years ago when hubby was in the USMC, only the other wives were your age, and I was 29, dealing with IF. Talk about discouraging! I most definitely feel your pain!

So sorry you are going through this. I'm a military wife also, and didn't know that there are military facilities that do a discounted ivf! I'm not quite there yet, and even though that is still a lot of money that actually gives me hope. I'm with you, and hugs to you!

I am SO sorry you are having to go through all of this!!! You ARE too young to be going through this:( Hopefully the Dr's can fix your tubes and you will be able to IVF. It is SO expensive, and frustrating that it does cost so much...its so not fair.

Thanks guys! You all are so helpful. I never considered that the doctors may be able to clear my tubes. So i will try to remain optimistic about the situation and i will cross that bridge when I get there. My surgery is next week so I will pray for the best. Thanks again.

Being young does not mean u cant be infertile although we being young all assume we are fertile. i am 23 have been trying to concieve for almost 23 months now. being young is a plus when ur in the infertility world. so keep ur chin up and know we are all here to give u the support u need.

your not alone. i found out im infertile at 17 and im now 20. your still really young so you still have alot of time on your hands. good luck!

your youth is an asset in this situation---not that anyone wants to be in this situation. You are smart to be getting checked out so soon and get some answers. Many of us waited thinking "it will happen" and then didn't really start getting into the swing of IF testing until late 20s, 30s, or even 40s. Time is a benefit for IF treatments...or atleast you have time to make decisions or save money, etc.

So, I'm glad you took these steps young... and that discount is AMAZING. An IUI cycle for me was around $2,000...so you are in good shape.

I'm a military wife also going through IF issues but ours is MF. I've been looking into the Army hospitals that do lower cost IVF and there are 4...Walter Reed in DC, one is in Hawaii I believe, Ft. Lewis in Washington doesn't actually preform the procedure but they refer you off-post to a place that offers low cost to milittary families and the last place is either in San Antonio or El Paso TX...not sure which one but I know it's in TX! We are stationed in GA and Walter Reed is only like 10 hrs away so once we find out exactly what we need to have done we will be trying to go there. Hopefully you aren't too far away from one of these places! You can always ask your RE if they offer any kind of military discount or any kind of finance programs...sometimes they won't advertise that they do when in reality all you have to do is ask and they will work with you. Hope this helps!
