Interesting. My RE really believes in DHEA and I did it prior to 2 IVF cycles (only once cycle did I do it as long as he wanted me to, the other was rushed becasue my insurance was running out), the cycle where I did the complete course of DHEA produced the most eggs I've ever produced 14 instead of my usual 12. I still got a BFN though.

Does this require a prescription? I'll ask my RE what she thinks about DHEA at my next appt. Thanks for the info!

Not sure if it requires a prescription, however I wouldn't take it without first talking to your RE. There are side effects with DHEA and you should have your testosterone levels checked before considering it (if they are high you don't want to take DHEA). I've also heard the same is true if you have fibroids (don't take it).

DHEA does not require a prescription but you do need to talk to your RE before taking it. Most are fine with it but you have to stop it when they tell you. For example mine had me stop it on the same day I triggered.

This is a great study! My IVF doctor suggested I start taking DHEA a few months before my IVF. We decided to try one more IUI. During that time I took DHEA and luckily I got my BFP that IUI cycle and never had to go through IVF. I truly believe that the DHEA helped a lot!

Last I heard you don't need a rx in the US but I think you might in Canada and I'm not sure outside of those. I'm currently taking it under the care of a doctor and we are monitoring my hormones while doing it because it does affect other hormones like estrogen and testosterone. I've read tons of info on it lately and it sounds good to me. I'm on a very low dose right now and currently have no side effects. I will test my hormones again in 90 days and determine if it's working. I'm hoping I'll just end up pg and then I'll know it worked. Lord knows nothing else has!
