Hi ladies, although I am not new to this board, I haven't posted in quite a while. I had 3 IVF cycles in 2008, finally got preg on the 3rd and had my son in April 2009. We are looking to try again, BUT, this time we have no insurance coverage at all for treatment. The last time our plan covered most of the treatment but my company changed insurance plans and there went the IF coverage :(
I had a consult with my RE and he sent me to re-do some tests in order to see if I qualify for some plans and give me all the financial info. My question is, do most of you have insurance coverage for treatment or do you pay out of pocket? And if you pay out of pocket do you have any tips or info on good financing options or special programs?

DH and I have paid out of pocket for everything. From what I understand, insurance that actually covers IF treatment is the exception. My insurance DID cover tests and exams leading to an IF diagnosis, after that, we paid for our meds and IUI's. We've been saving for IVF for the last 7 months and hope to start in the next 3 months. Praying all goes smoothly as you move forward :)

My insurance covered everything up until IVF. We are in the middle of our 3rd fresh IVF cycle, and also have done 2 FET's. So far we have spent $55,000 on IVF. We have used all our savings, credit cards, loans from parents. It kills me to think of what else we could have done with that money, but we just try not to think about it. For us, there is no other option. I agree that insurance that covers IVF is definitely the exception. It is ridiculous how expensive it is. Good luck on your journey for #2!!! It is reassuring to hear your 3rd cycle worked for you, as my ET is on Fri.

We pay for everything out of pocket. Our insurance hasn't covered anything including diagnostic testing, so we've been quickly using up our resources. We haven't yet had to consider IVF (still trying IUI), but our RE only charges $9000 for an IVF cycle which includes meds, procedure and MD fees, which is cheaper than some of the other doctors charge.

Wow Megs!! $9,000 all inclusive....I wish that was the case where I live. Here it's about $10,000 + meds which is about another $4,000. Some places even go as high as $18,000 for 1 cycle + meds. It's so expensive! I am looking into fertility financing options, I found they also have some discount packages you can buy. Thank you ladies for your input! And good luck to all of you.

$9,000 for an IVF cycles is fabulous!! Our insurance covered all testing and $25,000 toward treatments. One IVF cycle with meds was about $18,000. We've already done 2 cycles. So, we've spent about $11,000 out of pocket. We are getting ready to start our 3rd IVF cycle using donor eggs this time. The cost will be about $30,000.....all out of pocket. Fortunately, my parents are loaning us the money interest free.

We pay out of pocket too. My insurance covers all the testing and we have a separate prescription insurance that covers the meds. Our cycles for IVF are on the inexpensive side, as they are $8,000 with ICSI and assisted hatching. We had some money my Dad left when he passed and we save a lot of money to prepare for the cycles.

We will be doing IVF soon and everything completely out of pocket. Our insurance does not cover anything for IVF. Our financial option is our In-Laws who will loan us the money.
