I never heard of spotting during ovulation...is this common?

From what the doctor's tell me it is. Something to the extent of the egg bursting when it hits the uterus, then it sheds some of the lining to clean it out.....anyways somthing to that extent. Last time it happened I freaked and thought I was having another tubal. Like I said this is the 2nd time it has happened. I am not one to BD when during period so kind of puts damper on things.

Spotting during ovulation is very common. It happens to me sometimes. I'll be ovulating in a coule of days and I'm spotting a bit right now.

CarrieDawn how long do you normally spot for. Yesterday I spotted some in the afternoon. Not any last night, then when I got up and used the bathroom there was some again. Isn't it frusterting?

I hate it. I usually spot for one or two days before ovulation then it stops before I actually ovulate. It's been happening on and off for years not. Once AF is over, I would really prefer to have no more bleeding.

Ok not to get to personal. Spotting like panty liner spotting? Does it seem to be a little more in the morning when you first get up?

Yeah, it's panty liner spotting. I don't think I have more in the morning. When I got pregnant with the second baby that i miscarried in June of 2003, I was bleeding during ovulation. Not spotting. I bled for 3 days then found out 2 weeks later I was pregnant. Usually, though, it's very light spotting.

There seems to be a little more first thing in the morning. The last time the doctor did blood test 3 days in a row just to make sure it wasnt a miscarriage or tubal. I guess it just makes you panic a bit. Oh if I were only normal....Ok here is another personal question CarrieDawn. Does it look like period blood? Is it only when you wipe? (i know way to tmi)

Sometimes it's just when I wipe and other times there's some in my panty liner. It's usually pink but sometimes red as well. I'll also get pink CM around ovulation because of it. It seems to happen more since I've been taking Clomid but it was happening for 3 years before that as well.

I guess it seems a little heavier then it should be. Hmm guess everyone is different. Yesterday i was on day 15, and i am a late ovulator so it would make sense i guess.

So girls, did you ever have your progesterone checked on day 21? I'm asking because I spotted on and off during ovulation for years. Like 10 years. And every obgyn said that it was normal, blah, blah. It would only happen like once a year or so, and if I did something physically strenuous like start going to gym that month. Then when we started TTC and had our first m/c I had to have d&c and they found abnormal (precancerous) cells in my endometrial lining. They explained this happens when you have low prog. for long time and lining doesn't shed properly. Let me say I had perfectly normal, on time periods my whole life, not painful or erratic or anything. When lining doesn't shed it kinda builds up in your uterus and this leads to mid-cycle bleeding.

Now I'm sure there are other causes of mid-cycle bleeding but I'd suggest doing the bloodwork on day 21 and if prog. is low then following this up with endometrial biopsy. No fun I know but at least you save yourself some big scare. I was so, so scared. Thankfully, d&c plus progesterone supplement took care of all the abnormal cells but still, it was very scary at the time.

I had all the testing done and it came back normal. I actually had a polyp that was found 2 years ago and at that time was bleeding almost my whole cycle. I had a sonohysterogram when they found the polyp and the doctor also did an endometrial biopsy that came back normal. I still bled during ovulation afterwards. My post ovulation progesterone has been over 22 every time that it's been checked so in my case, it's not a case of low progesterone.

kaja2008 that is kind of odd. That last 2 times this has happened I had very lite periods and not very much cramping. So it could be a combination of ovulation as well as the uterus not shed completely? And last month I started my period earlier then i think i ever had, which i thought was weird considering i never start on day 28.

oh and i started working out last month to. Can that affect it also?

ok and what is a D&C?
