Okay first off I would like to thank all of you for posting your comments to this post (w/ the exclusion of summerbda). I think I need to clarify for my own right that I was quick to post this thread after reading another woman's comment (who was NOT being negative, just giving her opinion relating to 1st time IVFers, which I am not knocking her one bit). I was just a little thrown off and hey, I'm realistic and was told by my RE that we have a 51% chance it will work. So I apologize if I was being "childish" by posting this too quick and believe me, I have tried to delete this post as I don't want to come off for you to "beg" me to stay. Again, I appreciate all the support I get here on DS and usually get faster answers on many things than me RE's office:) Take care!

I hope you don't leave. It's understandable for you to be nervous and such to read something like that, but I have read and been told more than once about women here doing an IVF and getting pg first time around. I don't find this post childish, nor do I find it necessary to be rude to someone for voicing their worries and concerns. I hope you stay (and if nothing else, put the people who bring you down on ignore!). Hang in there girl

Most success rates for IVF are around 70%, much higher than IUI but there is still that 30% that do not work.I know as I have been there 3 times now. But I know one of these days I will fall into the 70% that is successful.Don't leave because some hormone crazed person wrote a bad comment, the rest of us all understand what it is like to be stressed about all of this and want you to stay. I too have crazy days and try to just read instead of posting a comment that would hurt someones delicate feelings on those days.We all all here for each other.

You will get pregnant...you have a lot going for you. By the way, I got pregnant the first time through IVF. Best wishes!

IF is the worst journey. I have gotten pregnant with every IVF that I have attempted. Two fresh and one frozen. The first two ended in miscarriage and I am currently 10 weeks pregnant with twins and very hopeful. Now, everyone is different and I hope you fall into the 70% category. Try to stay positive. That means doing whatever helps you through the process.

First and foremost, you are NOT childish!!!! That really bothers me that someone would be so insensitive, ONCE AGAIN, and say something like that to your very valid post. I just wanted to be another person who offered a ray of hope. I got my first BFP with my very first IVF. I have tubal issues, had been trying to conceive since August 2008 and am now 10 weeks pregnant! Stay hopeful! IT CAN HAPPEN!!!

I have not done IVF, so I don't have any advice on that, but I just wanted to say that I don't think your posting was "childish" in the least. We are all (or at least most of us) are here to support each other and if you have anything that you want advice about, it is free for you to post it. If you need to take a break and let us support you from afar in our thoughts and prayers for a little while, that is okay. We will be here when you are ready to come back if you want to come back. I think some on here forget to use empathy and have forgotten how hard the waiting, wondering, and worrying of how every little thing will empact our chances of conceiving and our mental health during all of this. since I am the oldest(and hopefully somewhat wise)woman on here, I will baby sit you if you need it until you get your feelings together and feel better, my shoulder is always here for anyone that needs it.We are all DS sisters in this journey, even if I am old enough to be your mother. (((hugs)))

You should NOT stop coming to DS. I heard the same comments when we were doing our first IVF cycle. Even my DF would say it (I think it was to protect us from pain). But the fact is that it DOES work the first time for many couples. My cousin got pregnant her first IVF and now has a very healthy one year old. So do not give up hope and PLEASE do not leave here. I sure would miss you a lot, not to mention that you deserve all the love and support from us.

Stay positive and have faith. Going through IVF is very nerve-racking. I was almost certain we were going to have to endure the IVF process more than once but, after our 1st IVF cylce in Feb. we got out BFP and I am now pregnant with Triplets. I'm not sure of your beliefs, but I'll tell you what, I know that praying and believing that the Lord wants this for you is what got me through it. Many people have negative thoughts about IVF so just try not to be affected by any negativity you read. Just stay positive and pray a lot and it will happen. I promise. Hope this helps.

Oh dear! Don't leave.... This site can offer so much support. I've only been on here since March 10, but words will never be able to express how helpful it's been.

Negativity will attack you from anywhere, not just this site.... I had a coworker (who went through IUI's and stopped at that point to adopt) tell me, "Oh you are crazy. The % is so low for success. Most people need several IVF's. Just save your money and adopt like I did. IVF is a rip off."

Let me tell you something... I cried so hard that I couldn't even get the words out to tell my husband what she said! People can say the smallest things and it can have the biggest impact on you. I don't think that most MEAN to be MEAN, but it's how we take it.

What this coworker said to me still lingers in the back of my mind and heart. However, I turn to this DS site and read of sooooo many different stories, procedures, protocols, and side effects. Everyone is different. Try not to let the stress get to you. Take breaks when you need to. But just know that there are tons of women on here struggling with the same paralyzing fears and "what ifs" as you. We need (and are) here to support each other.

A friend of mine got pregnant through IVF on her first try at a clinic with only a 25% sucess rate. It does happen. Now I am just hoping the same will happen for me because I am going to the same clinic.

these boards are only as good as the people on them. You have to take each post and response at face value and try to GET THE GOOD and disregard the bad. If DS has been helping you so far....don't walk away in whole. Just try to limit things for a while and do what is best for you.
