Don't listen to anybody. Each person is different. I did my first ivf cycle because of the %. I did have a BFP and than after the firsts heartbeat nothing, so each person is different. People here will support you remember that. Good luck!

Hey you! I do not think it was a negative comment at all. It is actually true and my RE told me the same thing. That is why IVF cycles do not have like 85%-100% success rates. You have to do what is best for you and your state of mind when it comes to DS. I absolutely love you and all the women on her and I take the good with the bad, the joy with the sorrow. Just like most things in life you want, approach them with an open heart and positive attitude and claim your success!
I do not know what I would do without everyone on here. I have taken breaks from DS but it was taking a break from everything infertile/fertile, #'s, statistics, etc. I think and believe things will go great for you! I pray to God you get your BFP! Think and be positive! I am a dreamer and a visualizer but also realistic and know their are no guarantees and everything is ultimately let up to God and the universe! I wish you all the best!

I would miss you too much if you took a vacation. The odds are about 3 times higher than IUI. I know how upsetting it can be to read that what you are doing might not work. I feel the same way as you do!!! All you want to hear right now is that it will. I honestly feel that this is it for you and hope this is if for me also. Just remember that everyone on here is at a different place in life with different backgrounds and different view points. Stay positive, it's the only thing we have :)

Each person is different with totally different issues.I know of lots of ppl getting pregnant on the first try!! You sound like you will be one for sure!! Just stay positive and believe you will get your baby(IES):):)

Thank you guys for all your positive feedback....I'm just freaking out a little right! This whole process just takes a toll on the mind and the pocket book!! There is alot at stake and I just pray we made the best decision on going forward w/ this step. Blessings and baby dust to all of you lovely ladies:)

Sometimes I feel like I need to step away from DS because of all of the sadness that so many wonderful women face, but then I realize (usually after about a day or two) that there is so much love and support here that I need.

You are entering a very tentative and potentially stressful time. I would do whatever you need to help yourself feel calm and happy at this time.

I don't know what the odds of IVF working on the first time are. I do know my doctor gave us a 0.5-3% chance with IUI and a 70 - 75% chance with IVF (I know our situation is much different than yours).

I know keeping a hopeful and positive attitude is very important. Wishing you a BFP.

We did 3 un-medicated IUI's that failed. We switched to IVF and got a BFP on our very first cycle...and now I'm 11 weeks pregnant with twins. It does happen.....it will happen....just have faith.

Well I don't know if those odds are true or not but one of my best friends got pregnant ON THE FIRST TRY WITH IVF after 9 failed IUI's. So I would say that it not working on the first try is not always the case. Then she went on to get pregnant without IVF after a successful pregnancy with IVF. And she has PCOS and a number of other problems!!!! So you keep your heart full of hope....I will be praying for your BFP!!!!

Should "you" stop DS because someone told you the TRUTH they "believe??"? ARE YOU SERIOUS??? If you come here for advise/oppinions etc. and think that it's allll a bed of roses!? Then I suggest you stay off the web....period! ALLLL this is tough. AND EVERYONE on here is going thru it! (your probably not going to be begged to stay) as we all are working on a bigger picture here than babysitting....sorry, this post just really is so childish.......

It can be really hard to read stuff like that. I remember DS was a double-edged sword for me during our infertility treatments, I craved being on here with people who understood what we were going through, but once I got on here and read some of the posts and saw how many times some of the ladies had been through all this... it got really disheartening. But every now and then someone who I knew had been at this a long time got a BFP... and even though I was sad because it wasn't us, I was so happy for them and also more hopeful for us. We DID get pregnant on our first IVF but I never believed it would happen. The important thing to remember is that everyone is different, everyone's situation is different, and even if that statistic is correct (which I don't know if it is or not), that doesn't mean you won't be in the minority who do get pregnant on the first IVF. And I am a bit with Summer in that if you really need only positive information and thoughts right now -- and that may be the case and no one would judge you for it -- you might want to take an internet break for your own sanity.

I know you don't want to know this, but I got pregnant my first time with IVF and have a healthy almost 3 year old. And i got pregnant in october with my first FET cycle and I pregnant with twins. So don't let stats get you down. It's very possible to work the first time. Good luck with what ever you guys choose to do.

Hang in there Shannon, there is a very wide range of statistics for IVF and you never know where you will fall. As you can see by lots of the posts here, it can happen on your 1st try so stay positive! As for YOUR post being childish...I have to disagree.

I know many women who got PG on first IVF. So you should have hope. If you need to step away from DS and focus on staying positive and healthy, then that is fine. I have done it many times when I needed a break. Everyone will still be here. Good luck!

First of all, I would miss you too much if you weren't here :)
Second, I did not see the comment that you were referring to, but look around you how many actually are pregnant after their first IVF try.
Now, we all have to be realistic (hey, I know that) and of course not all become pregnant the first time or the second time or ever with IVF. If your RE has not already gone over the statistics with you, he or she will. But it also has to do with the individual, age, diagnosis etc. I think it's important to have a good and positive attitude when beginning this journey, but to be honest with you, and I'm talking from experience as you know, if I had had my mind set that this first time around when I was doing IVF that there would have been no other possible outcome than a pregnancy, and after finding out the results, I don't know how I could have survived. Some of you may disagree with me and that's okay. I don't want to discourage anyone and frankly, if you don't try, you won't know if you'll be the lucky one.
My advise is to get as much information as possible from your RE and ask what your chances are and then stay positive, hopeful and pray for a BFP. One day it will happen to you. There is only one that has a plan for you and he knows your heart and your desires.
