My son is 8 1/2 and autistic. I feel like we've missed out on a lot because of that, and it doesn't make it any easier or less heartbreaking to look at the fact that I have a child already. My son doesn't hug me. He doesn't care if I leave or come back. Maybe he does in his own way, but that in itself is painful. I feel cheated, and just because I have a son, it doesn't mean that infertility is any less painful for me than it is for you.
I have found that in telling people about my infertilty (to limited degrees depending on how close I am to them) helps me because people understand not to ask or instead to ask how the IVF etc is going rather than when.
Secondly I found that accepting that I might never have children has helped me deal with the stress of trying. Planning my life around TTC was making me miss out on so much, so when I finally really thought about my life without children I was able to look at how I was living compared to how I would want myself to live. This new outlook has helped me maintain my sanity and maybe it could help you too.
7 years is a long time of trying - look at the way you want your future to look (without another child) and see how much of your time and energy you want to commit after you have fully looked at the situation.
I hope that you get the second child that your heart wants, but if it doesn't happen I hope that you are able to find a new dream and goal that will make your life just as fulfilling.
