Hi all,

I have a question... As some of you know I am in my "off line life" a university lecturer and researcher. Sometime ago (well over a year ago) I floated the idea of conducting research to highlight the issues we face with our IF journey and many of you wanted to take part. Due to many reasons including changes in jobs, states and another miscarriage after IVF I didn't get the time to start the process for research, however, now that things have settled I thought I would get it going!

As you know I have for a while been looking for a way for us to put our point of view across... how we feel, the difficulties we face (my current struggle with FB baby announcements is definitely going in there somewhere lol!) etc...

Would some of you be still interested in participating?

I am also going to approach the moderator of DS for permission if there is a group who are happy for me to go ahead with the research.

To be honest I am sick of researchers who never had to deal with IF speaking on our behalf and I thought it may as well be us who give a voice to the difficulties faced by women facing this journey.

Please let me know what you all think!

I think it a great idea. I heard too many rumors and saw too many stupid movies about IF. I think it time for someone who actually went and going through that to speak. Please let me know if I can be of any help. I keep all my notice from my IF journey as well as my journals on how I felt during a process. Big Hug.

I would not say no to anything you wanted to ask ... i think its a great idea that someone who has experienced it themself can expalin it to others. good for you -

I think that's a wonderful idea!!! I love that you want to speak on behalf of something you relate to!! I had to do an informative speech for school and chose infertility since it is something that I deal with and have passion for!! I ended up having to do my speech for a room full of soldiers since my DH was the only one that could get a large enough group for me!! They were amazed at what we go through and how many people are actually affected!! They had lots of questions!! Plus now they are able to give my DH support because they know what we are dealing with now!!

I would be glad to participate!!!

Awesome idea lina !!! I have been thinking of some way to contribute to others travelling through this painful IF journey, but never had the guts or energy to focus on it.. I would be only happy to help in whatever way I could..

I remember when you brought it up before and I loved the idea. In my off-line life, I am a mental health therapist and it wasn't until I was in my own IF journey that I truly began to understand what others went through. Other therapists that I talk to about it (and who don't understand it) often say the "wrong" things as well, just because they don't get it. I think it is important to have advocates who truly understand the struggles of IF to share their stories and use their voices and experiences to increase awareness to those who just "think" they know what IF is like.

Thanks so much for your support ladies!

I have now finished the ethics form and will be sending it early next week for approval. After that it is a matter of the committee sending back an acceptance and then we are ready to go!

In the mean time I will contact DS to let them know what we will be doing. ..

also if you have any specific topics you want to discuss as part of the project could you email them to me ASAP ad I will put them down as part of the study (everything needs to be sighted by the ethics board...)

Just wondering if this would include those who found an end to their IF journey (birth, adoption, etc), or only those who are currently TTC?

this is for anyone who has gone or is still going through the IF journey. The way I see it if you have gone through it you understand the journey - if anything I think it would help to enhance others understanding that while the journey is over for some, it doesn't mean that it is forgotten!
